It fit my Walmart snapper weed eater and works good enough. The choke switch had to be removed because it was hitting the air filter box so it could not be choked properly. I simply removed the handle of the choke and use some small pliers only when I need to start it for 2 seconds. I was happy to be able to refurbish an old weed eater I found on the side of the road with only a $14 replacement carburetor.

I am a small engine mechanic. I decided to buy two of these carbs to see what they were like. I started with noticing where the mixture screws were set. Low mixture was 1/2 turn, high was 1/4 turn. Installed the carb, primed until I started to see fuel in the primer bulb. Started on 7th pull. Ran rough for 55 seconds then quit. I decided to adjust the mixture screws to a starting point of 1 1/2 turns out, which is about normal. Nothing no mater how many times I tried to start. Turned screws back in 1/4 turn increments at a time tried starting. Nothing till I got back to the factory settings of 1/2 and 1/4. Trying to fine tune from that point was no help. Turning a hair either way just stalled the motor even with the idle up. Both carbs tested the same. After disassembling them I could not find anything out of the ordinary. Reassembled, did pressure tests, still same results. I could see one not working due to quality control, but two? Always have to read reviews too. Many give something 5 stars and either haven't even installed it yet or have not used it enough to give it a proper review. I would shy away from these 'unbranded' carbs for small engines. And if you make your money fixing these...stick with warranty parts.Read full review

This is a replacement for the factory carburetor. I tried to track down a rebuild kit for the original carb, but the rebuild kits I found were more expensive than this replacement, and I only needed one gasket out of the rebuild kit to make the engine run. Replacing it is pretty straight forward. The only issue is the choke lever needs to be longer to clear the air cleaner housing. You *may* be able to take the lever off the old carb and replace the lever on the new carb with it, but I didn't look into doing this. Other than that, once the new carb is in place, you need to adjust it so the engine runs correctly. Not a big deal as it ships with the tool to adjust it. This is a great deal for the price, and you don't have to deal with rebuilding the old carb. Now my $10 garage sale weed whacker runs great, and it's cheaper than buying a new weed whacker.Read full review
