This is my second ix6520. The first one lasted four years, and though I would have preferred it last longer, it worked well right up until the day it wouldn't power on any more. (Previous printers got cantankerous and became a maintenance nightmare.) The top requirement I have is edge-to-edge printing on up to 11" x 17" paper for dummies, large photos, and portfolio pieces. Settings can be tweaked to get edge-to-edge output on plain paper and envelopes, as well as to boost ink output so type looks rich and dark on heavy uncoated stationery. I switched from Canon to Linkyo inks a while ago to save money, and the printer handles them well. I haven't tried other brands and so can't say if they work as well. I have used the printer with Mac OS X up to 10.7 and Windows XP and 7. I don't use any of the optional utilities, but some of them do seem as if they could be useful. Canon Creative Park is a great bonus. I have made some of their amazing popups and paper crafts (making my fingers feel arthritic in the process, but it's worth it). This printer is basic—no wireless or Ethernet, no fax or scanner—but for me that means less hassle, less radiation, greater security, and no need for replacement if some other component fails.Read full review

I've been using my iX6520 for about a month now (I bought it to replace my aging iP3000 and to expand - literally - my printing capabilities). The printer is gorgeous (I know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder) and seems very well made (heavy-duty plastic used throughout compared to the iP3000s of which I've owned a number). The printer is fast, paper handling seems great, and the quality for text, graphics, and photos it excellent. Now for my complaint: My feeling is that for an over-sized printer to be equipped with under-sized ink cartridges is unconscionable. I know Canon has to make their money somewhere, but the discrepancy in this printer borders on the ludicrous. HP, in some of their heavier-duty desktop inkjets, has high-capacity, remotely located ink tanks feeding ink to the print heads via tubing and that is exactly what a printer of this size should employ. There are third party continuous inking systems available for the iX6520, but I would not destroy its beautiful case trying to install one of these. I've opted for the cartridge refilling route instead and it's working well. I really wish Canon (and all inkjet manufacturers) would do the right thing and make their built-in inking systems economical and appropriate to the task at hand.Read full review
We bought this printer so that we can start printing large format prints. Now this printer, to our research, was not built for large photo printouts but for charts and other artistic prints/advertising. We are glad that the technology that went into this printer facilitates our demands, if not going beyond. We like the size and the weight of the printer; and it matches the look of our IP4700 printer. Now it is short on features, and we think that is a good thing for it will keep folks from glossing over what it could do besides print. The auto shut-off feature is really nice and there are plenty of apps from Canon to help with various projects you might want to do. The excellent print detail and speed of this printer is amazing via 13x19 prints. Fantastic detail with just the normal setting, WE have yet to print via the HIGH setting. We have just 2 individuals at our location using this printer so Ethernet connectivity was not important. There really isn't a dislike with this printer, but hey, we haven't had to purchase cartridges yet. We would purchase this printer again and almost did a few weeks back. The IX6520 is light enough to take on the road and is not as big as some of our photo equipment. You will not be dissatisfied with this printer. Note: What we paid via ebay, we have not found a lessor price (brand new) anywhere. We would like to thank our seller for having this printer at a great & fair price. Their communication was EXCELLENT. Youngstown Consulting Corp.Read full review
Have trouble with the on/off button-I'm always hitting it with my knee. Can't figure out how to get it to scan. Thankfully, I have another scanner. It's pretty big & bulky. I got it because I needed something that used the same ink as the home office all-in-one printer I used before it died. I only paid $57 for it! This one seemed a bit pricey at $90, but it was the only one I could find at the time, and I really needed something right away! So, it's ok, but I probably wouldn't recommend it.

This is an excellent printer. What it is not is a copier, nor a scanner, nor even wi-fi capable. But if you just need an excellent USB printer at a great price, this is for you.
