Purchased for parts. After 50 years these cameras are pretty much gummed up. Require complete disassembly. Best to purchase more than one of this type of Camera as small springs and rollers can quickly get lost when camera is disassembled. Screws that have not been turned in decades can seize up and snap off. Having an extra camera means no worry when this happens.

Anyone serious about photography, even if you normally shoot digital, can benefit from learning some aspects of old school film photography. The Canon FT QL is a great camera for a first year photojournalism student or anyone wanting to learn about taking photos manually. This model was manufactured from 1966-1972 and was the first Canon camera to have a through the lens light meter. It is a bit heavy at around 2 pounds, but the extra weight can help beginners by cutting down on camera shake at slower shutter speeds. I bought mine because I wanted a fully manual camera for my B&W film work. If you can find one of these, I recommend buying one that includes a lens as they can be expensive if purchased seperately. Mine came with a 50mm f1.8-11 lens. A 28mm lens would also come in handy if you are into taking lots of landscape photos.Read full review
