My wife uses this for her bike. It is a folding model and on the heavy side, but she has no difficulty hoisting it. Appears very solid and heavy duty. Only gripe is with the instructions. They are not very clear. Also, they refer to two ropes, whereas only one was included. I ended up using the two ends of the rope as if they were separate and this seems to work fine, but it would be better if the instructions matched what is actually in the box.

I purchased this hoist for a larger 120 lb kayak. I know I'm pushing it to the max, but it is difficult to find a hoist for larger craft for under $100. + and I'm on a budget. It was easy to install and the quality of the product is great. However, I would recommend it for the smaller lighter weight kayak/canoes. I have to have help every time I hoist it up and it seems that every time I do, I have to pull all my weight (near 200 lbs) on the rope, which in turn impacts the hoist I'm sure and my hands get worn and sore pretty quick. The built in rope break/ catch tends to eat up the rope and it makes me wonder how many more times I can use it before it gives but you may not have this problem if you have a smaller boat. If you have a lower ceiling it will be difficult to get the boat right next to the ceiling, it is better for taller ceilings at least 10+ feet, or else you may be walking into it. I had to modify the hoist straps so as to allow it to be closer to the ceiling and now I can barley walk under it. So in the end, it is a good product for a smaller weight boat mounted to a high ceiling.Read full review

The hoist itself is great. The hardware and the components are exactly what I expected. The one problem is that the straps only have loops to connect to the hooks at the ends of each strap and using those loops the straps are too long for my needs (they don't raise the kayak high enough). I had to use rope instead of the straps provided to make it suit my needs. I have another kayak hoist from RAD that is exactly the same as this kit except that the straps have multiple loops which allow the length to be adjusted as needed. If the straps had the ability to adjust I would recommend this product without hesitation.

bought it to lift a 75lb canoe. i was debating leaving it to hang from this system or just use it to lift the canoe to a rack. well forget either. maybe a 30 or 40 lb bike or small kayak? the price was right. the quality is pretty good. the pulleys are kind of cheap plastic but the metal parts are put together right and the paint is nice. will it lift 100lbs? i really doubt it.

I like this ceiling mount for my two kayaks. I checked the weight before lifting them and I'm under the 100lb weight shown on the box (not 125lb that is shown in the description). I do wish the instructions were clearer with how the rope goes through the clamp part because it took 2 tries to get it right and that involves removing the rope. I'm happy though. My roof joist go the opposite direction of where I wanted to put the hoist so I spanned a 2x4 the direction I wanted and attached to that.
