I wore Brut in college in 1970. It was almost every guys go to cologne or, splash on. In that sense, we were all mostly the same and that was fine. Now, most of my friends are gone, so I am unique. And that is still fine. It brings back old memories and makes new ones. The fragrance is close to what I remember, but ownership of the brand has changed hands so many times that I am not surprised that a little something was lost in translation. Caveat emptor. The stuff in the plastic bottle from Amazon says on the bottle, made in Mexico. The stuff in the glass bottle, as I remember it from a long time ago, does not indicate where it was made but the ads say made in USA. But then so does the Amazon ad in the plastic bottle, so fraud. I pointed that out to them. The glass bottle concoction is available on EBay. I spent more for a memory.Read full review

I thought I was buying the original Brut cologne fragrance because the ad. said "Brut Faberge Co. ...Introduced in the year 1964 ..." The bottom of the bottle, however, says Idelle, which was one of the later makers of Brut. My olfactory sense can't remember if what I bought smells exactly the same as FABERGE Brut, but if the bottle said Faberge on it, I would know I was getting the original fragrance. Idelle might have changed the formula.

Brut Cologne by Faberge has truly stood the test of time! It is a Man's fragrance that is not overpowering but with a nice distinct aroma. The Spray applicator is especially nice for a quick touch up in the evening before going out.

This Eau De Cologne is a nice once - in my point of view. I bought it because my dad use to ware it and I like the smell. This Eau De Cologne is not designed as a unisex item - it has a strong odor designed for men. My wife likes it (on me, not on her) and states it's very manly. It comes in a green semi transparent container with a press fit cap is designed to hold on tightly to the bottle neck to minimize evaporation. This means you need to pull it (not unscrew it) fairly hard to get it off the bottle - and to cap it you need to apply considerable pressure. Not a problem for us men though...;) - yet when you are in a hurry its annoying a bit as you apply the usual force and the cap stays on... Also, it has a built in spray, as most perfumes have, delivering a good amount (one squirt will do usually). I like the smell and it is strong and long lasting - about 12hr at least when I use it (and I don't use much). If you don't like strong odors - don't buy this one. If you are unsure about the smell - you can probably find it locally and test it before purchase. All in all - it's a good product and I recommend it. SaarRead full review
