I had no choice but to buy this expensive tank because the carburetor bowl is part of the tank which eliminates any easy custom modification when this tank rust out and it will, made in China with Chinese steel, Thanks Briggs. Also to top it off I had to rework the bottom bracket so the mounting hole would line up by some careful hammer blows and a rat tail file. Now that I am aware of the Briggs tricks I will certainly check all carburetor setups in the future on smaller equipment and just may steer away from Briggs because of the expensive genuine Briggs parts MADE in China.

i got a 1990's Husqvarna rear tine tiller a while back, one that had very few hours on it. There was a problem however, the gas tank, likely because of the ethanol in our fuel system, was extremely rusty. I cleaned it and used materials that were supposed to be fuel friendly but I continued to clog the carburetor. Finally I decided it was time to break down and buy a new tank. I ordered this one and when it arrived, I put it in place; a perfect fit. The tiller now runs great and does not keep clogging the carburetor every time I turn around. I have decided that buying a new tank, it much better than attempting to repair an old rusty gas tank. My only issue is that the exterior of the tank was not painted and I feel like it should have been painted black. Small issue however to resolve a much larger problem.Read full review

The product is great, I received it a day early but I think it it a bit over priced. I bought the whole engine off the shelf for around $250.00, brand new.

Unfortunately these are getting expensive because they are no longer in production. But I needed it to restore a nearly 30-yr-old Snapper chipper-mulcher which was still less expensive than buying new machine. The fuel tank fit and worked perfectly. It arrived with what appeared to be a rust protective coating that was damaged on one corner of the weld seam with a small amount of rust starting. My original was painted black along with the rest of the engine. So, I prepped and painted the new fuel tank to match thus resolving the rust issue. I would have painted it irrespective of the minor rust, and given the item is new, old stock I did not deduct anything for the defect. Otherwise, I am very happy with the result and my machine is back up and running.
