So Bridget ends up with the man of her dreams Mark Darcy (Collin Firth). But, like so many woman do she over analyzes. over thinks and over reacts, thus leading to a break up. The oh so sexy Daniel Cleaver pops back in the picture as a new co-worker. When Brig gets framed and thrown in a Thai prison Daniel watches as she is gets lead off by police. Mark saves the day, he and Daniel fight again, if a fountain thuis time - gotta love Colin Firth in a wet shirt (Pride and Predijuce). I wish this movie had followed the book at least a little. But, I love Bridget Jones' I love Mark Darcy even more and I'd watch it a hundred times over.
LOVE this sequel even more than the first movie!! They are to view, back-to-back, time and again!! I LOVE these movies!! Renee Zellweger is sooooo adorable, as Bridget Jones, and it's so very refreshing, to see a less-than-perfect leading lady's character end up with THE hottest, sexiest leading man's character on the planet (Colin Firth)!! A very nostalgic era in time, for the "over 30 and single" working girl, having a difficult time of it, in finding someone to love her, "just as she is," "wobbly bits" and all. I found myself even more "in love" with MARK Darcy, than I was with FITZWILLIAM Darcy, and Bridget Jones and her friends reminded me a lot of myself, and my friends, in the mid-1980's. The music was very 1980's, only with new artists, and I cried my eyes out to Mary J. Blige's rendition of "Sorry Is the Hardest Word." It really colored the scene, and captured the heartbreaking emotions of Bridget Jones, when she split with Mark Darcy. I weep everytime I see that scence. It is so much easier, to relate to Bridget Jones, than it is to relate to Elizabeth Bennett, and it's a plus, that this story is loosely based on "Pride and Prejudice." Hugh Grant is perfect, as the George Wickham-type character, and it was delightful, to see him get his fanny whipped...again!...by Colin Firth. It was easy, to love-to-hate his character, in both of these films. I thought that the Thai girls in jail with Bridget were just adorable, in how they all accepted Bridget, and consoled her. Just a terrific follow-up, with an even happier ending!! However...I want to see a THIRD movie, to see Bridget and Mark married, and with children, maybe...? But...wouldn't be the same, unless they used the same actors, to reprieve their roles...and I don't think Colin Firth would be easily courted into agreeing to it...do you?? By the way...Happy Birthday to Hugh Grant, who turns 48, on Sept. 9th, and to Coling Firth, who turns 48, on Sept. 10th. Interesting, isn't it, that they are only a day apart, in age?? Briget Jones Diary(part 1)was so adorable,it's hard to think that part 2 would be as good.Well-it almost is. The supporting cast is back, and very funny, and Colin Firth is extremely attractive and good in comedies as well as some dramas I've seen him in. Hugh Grant is-himself,and that's pretty good too. I don't know what they would do if there was a part 3,but it is worth owning both part 1 and 2 if you like mushy love stories(as I do).
I loved the first movie (Bridget Jones's Diary) but could not find the second movie (The Edge of Reason)on DVD anywhere. So I started looking online for the purchase. I'm so very happy I struck gold on Ebay. I found the DVD I wanted and it was brand new/never opened priced right. This movies is just one of my many favorites. It is a great curl up on the sofa on a rainy Saturday chick flick. And if you are a woman over 30 & single you can just relate to Bridget's drama. I don't think it received very good reviews when it came out but I love it nevertheless.
Good Movie I enjoy movie series so had to have this one too I really like Collin Firth in most movies I have seen him in this one was no exception
