I was curious about this game and now I can take in the good with the bad. It has some innovation however it is running on some silly logic that never lets up. As if written by a 5 year old and animated by a novice. The character models and scenery is well done and the time manipulation is very neat. Unfortunately the blur from moving the camera makes this a bad drinking game, unless you like being nauseous.

I quickly took to the fun and frenetic gameplay style in beginning of game. Fast hack-n-slash sword action with unique combos and finishing moves that added some good combat depth. Then was given a gun for combat at a distance which made the game even more fun to play. And finally some new platforming abilities were added for the final pieces that would normally make for great gameplay hours on end. But once the fun began ramping up, a final mechanic was introduced that for me completely ruined the gameplay flow turning a fun action-packed style into a slowed-down complicated punishment of constant frustration. As the title implies, "Blades of TIME" focuses on a time rewind mechanic that is supposed to enable the player to attack enemies with multiple versions of yourself simultaneously that otherwise can't be defeated by playing only as yourself, even with your complete arsenal of weaponry. This mechanic to me was completely unnecessary and only functioned to rewind the fun far enough back that it was not enjoyable to play. The enemies that require the TIME function to defeat are almost invincible and trying to get the TIME mechanic to work properly was more than a simple chore to pull off when it actually did work. Even when you do execute the TIME mechanic correctly, there are times when there is no damage dealt to the enemy and then when multiple enemies attack at same time it's just impossible to progress. I really liked alot about this game with it's old school grainy graphics, colorfully stylish fast-paced combat with unique mechanics, loaded main character with all sorts of tools and weapons, but the faulty TIME mechanic broke the gameplay into an unplayable experience. This game would have been one of my all time favorite hack-n-slash games if it had stuck to its fundamental elements that made the game fun but unfortunately this game falls short of finding itself in the company of truly great games like Darksiders, Devil May Cry, or Bayonetta that know how combat flow works.Read full review

Ah, I'm afraid this game did not really excite me. It just seemed very boring, especially the heroine. She has such a stuffy English accent, it just doesn't fit. The first Ayumi character in X Blades was so feisty and pretty, I really liked fighting for her. I dunno, I just got really bored with this game, I never even came close to finishing it. A game like this relies much on the heroine's character and personality, and this one is a snore fest.
Under The radar classic from 10 years ago glad I discovered it
