Many of you reading this will go "No 3G, Fail!" but you need to remember that there is and will be (at least for a little while longer!) a market for EDGE-only devices and RIM needs to have a base model, full QWERTY Edge device in their next-generation styling to fill that need. Thus it seems logical that the 8500 series is simply the replacement to the Curve 8300 series. This also justifies why a base model device will be the first to introduce a cool feature like the optical trackball. The Curve 8300 series lineup has been hugely popular and has a lot of loyal users (Curve is the #1 Selling Smartphone in the USA) and there are likely a lot of existing owners out there who would make the jump up to this device.
full keyboard, expandable memory, blackberry messenger, durable, decent camera, video capable, cheap accessories and fun to bid on... if your looking for a phone that can handle a lot of texting, songs and pics/vids while holding decent charge while decently priced, this is a great phone! the screen isnt so big but this phone doesnt have wifi anyway, it does have a browser so if you need to go online to check something you have away to do it.
I bought this phone for business reasons. I love the trackball aspect of it, the layout of they keys, the wi-fi capability and it has good feautres.I love the trackball and wifi feature they added to this phone but I dislike the graphics and the camera's megapixels. Other than that, great phone, easy to use, love the features!!!
I got this cell phone because a.) my old one stopped working correctly and b.) I prefer physical QWERTY keyboards. So far, I've been very happy with it. Yes, I do have to charge it every couple of days, the browser doesn't seem to work and I haven't been able to figure out the WiFi yet, but those are the only downsides that I've found. Texting is easy, it's small, I don't have to worry about a massive screen, it has solitaire (handier than one might think), and it doesn't pocket-dial 911 when locked (an issue with my old phone). I love this phone, and I'm very glad that I got it.
