The old side scrolling game for the NES, has been revamped and reworked in full 3d. The graphics in this game look great, excellent lighting, clean design, various locations to explore. The story does a good job of keeping interest in game progress. But the thing that makes this game stand out over a lot of other recently released games, is something that was also common in NES games: The game is hands down fun. Swinging from building to building, and executing mid-air combos. This game is very similar to prototype, although it is linear, the various locations make it overall a better game experience. Capcom did a great job of capturing the flow of the old NES game in current technology.
I bought this game because it was something different. It was a fun game, but like most games, could have been so much more. It's all about the Bionic Arm and thats the main fun with the game. Swinging around the city is very smooth. This runs great on PC, but there is no AA option, and forcing it does not work. Also on the box it says DX10 support, but there is not DX10 .exe, and only runs in DX9. That was kind of a let down, but for 10-20 bucks you can let it slide. I recommend this to any Bionic Commando fan, just don't expect to much.
This is an awesome game. I have an Xbox controller for windows. I have a new HP Laptop I play it on, with a hdmi cable going to my flatscreen. My hp is an i3, 4g, but not fast enough for this game... Durning gameplay, I have to press the buttons in advance for the game to respond in time. If you have a faster computer, this game will be awesome! Great gameplay and imagination. Highly recommended!
Because I like FPS's , I gave this game a good workout while it ended up giving me one. It plays fantastic on PC and it looks good too. If you're not too picky about graphics quality and such , you will be impressed by this game's design. It is actually a 3D version of a 2D game - like MARIO. Not expecting much from it , it amazed me how it forces you to play defensively. You cannot reload ammo , you only get a maximum amount which you have to reload by finding ammo packs. You also can't SAVE , so if you mess up - yurr done and have to start from the furthest checkpoint or point of progress. This all makes it much more difficult , while this is not really an easy game overall anyways. You have to play very tactical to progress and I liked that. The swinging bionic arm effects are great to play around with , while you can swing your way in and out of trouble. Towards the ending , it gets harder in my opinion - but it ends abruptly not to my liking. Plus there is no 3D sequel. I took a point off for the difficulty in gameplay and the ending. Overall , I would say that if you like FPS's , you simply have to give this game a chance as I did. While much to my surprise it was loaded with great levels where you will have some difficulty figuring out how you are going to get to laid out weapons and ammo throughout to continue. You actually have to swing your way through this , like being SpiderMan without falling into Radioactive areas where you will die. The concept is great and the gameplay is great , and I would have liked to play a 3D sequel for sure. This game does rank , and has some really funny commentary. It's far from boring when you can't beat it. This is also not an overnight game that you will finish , as it also requires over 7gb of diskspace to load onto your hard drive. The weapons are numerous : from pistols to rocket launchers , with a great grenade launcher to boot. It's a very fun game , but more for experienced players who know what to do with it.Read full review
