Following in the fine tradition of this great series, Rhino presents "Billboard Top Rock & Roll Hits". This volume focuses on the year of 1961. And, what a year it was. Bobby Lewis kicks things off into high gear with the smash hit song "Tossin And Turnin"; Del Shannon delivers the year's best-selling song with "Runaway"; the Marcels had a huge hit with their remake with their rendition of the pop standard "Blue Moon"; Rock And Roll hall-of-famer Dion had one of his biggest hits with "Runaround Sue"; the lively up-tempo spirit continues with "Quarter To Three" by Gary "U.S." Bonds; female favorites the Shirelles shine with "Will You Love Me Tomorrow"; R&B legend Chris Kenner scored big with "I Like It Like That"; the pace slows down considerably with the ballad "Daddy's Home" from Shep and the Limelites; Ben E. King brought the classic "Stand By Me" to the pop charts; teen idol James Darren bids a fond farewell with "Goodbye Cruel World". These timeless favorites remain a lot of fun to listen to, even into the 21st Century.Read full review
I really love the sound quality of the stereo cd put out by Bill Board. I like this particular one so much, I am buying another to keep in the car. I liked these so much I bought best hits of 1963 and 64 also. I use them on my morning walks. Makes the chore of walking fun.

This is my "go to" treadmill CD. Great collection. There is another CD that has different songs at the end that is also called Billboard Top Rock 'n Roll Hits of 1961. Check the song listing of the one you order to be sure you are getting the songs you want (I particularly wanted "Daddy's Home"). Anyway, I love these good old songs and they do get me up and going.
Not a bad cd, good for my collection.
