The DVD cover for this set claims "4 Blood-Freezing Features," but of the four only one is an actual horror film! This'll be short and sweet so let's just get through this: "Shriek of the Mutilated" (1974) - Despite its low budget and bad acting, 'Shriek of the Mutilated' is a fairly decent 1970's B-movie with a fun twist at the end. Be forewarned however: this version of the film omits the song 'Hot Butter' by Popcorn, which in past releases played at a party scene at the beginning. Not a deal-breaker but still annoying. "The Legend of Bigfoot" (1976) - Hardly a "blood-freezing feature," although it is, in fact, pretty terrifying in its own right. This is a documentary of all things narrated by and starring a Sasquatch hunter and naturalist and genuine crackpot named Ivan Marx. Bogus Bigfoot footage abounds and Marx's narration is virtually nonstop, and he rambles about all sorts of nonsense. The highlight is his bizarre claim that goats commit mass suicide by eating dirt. The documentary becomes offensive at one point when we see a squirrel run over by a car and struggle to crawl back to its burrow before a hawk (or some other kind of bird of prey) gets it. It makes it, but it's so drawn out that it's tedious and the fact it has nothing to do with Bigfoot makes it even more bizarre. And the less said about the scenes of hunters killing caribou, the better. And therein lies Marx's problem; he goes off on way, way too many tangents to kill time instead of focusing on Bigfoot. "The Capture of Bigfoot" (1979) - A silly but fun little movie. "The Search for the Beast" (1997) - This has even less reason to be here than 'The Legend of Bigfoot.' It's a Bigfoot sex flick! Bare boobs and the worst Bigfoot costume ever put to film! There's even a scene wherein Bigfoot happens upon a couple engaging in anal sex. He kills the man and takes his place, and the unfortunate woman never even realizes she's getting buggered by an entirely different partner. Stupid and offensive.Read full review
Some of these were not too bad but I agree with the last review about the insensitive display of the squirrel getting killed. Sad someone can make fun of something like that. I thought the actor in the Bigfoot suit was hilarious, and if you have a few brews during these movies you will like them better, I did any way. I love B movies so was not too distressed with the lack of good acting, but other watching these with me were not happy with them movies at all. Maybe I am easily entertained, OK, I AM easily entertained so I liked these for the most part, but did have a few laughing spells at parts just because it was so darn funny. I own and watch these every couple of months so they can't be that bad (to me anyways), my friends refused to watch a second time!! Hahaha, are they party poopers or am I just crazy? Could be a little of both!! If you are not too serious about it you might like these, otherwise just forget it or you might be annoyed like the other reviewer was. Keep an open mind and a few ready to open beverages and you will get thru them all (•¿•) Sasquatch does LIVE!! BunnyRead full review
