I purchased this machine to replace my heavily used 440QE (Same model), The light was damaged and with the pandemic I could not take it in to be repaired. I decided to buys the same machine so I could use the old one for parts. Only issue I had was the thread feeder from the shaft to the needle was peculiar and I did not know how to thread the machine through it. So I removed the piece from my old machine and put it on the new one. Now it's perfect.

I have coveted a Bernina Aurora 440QE for years. I finally got what I wanted. This beauty is easy to use and I just love the BSR, which will take my free motion quilting to a new level. But that's not all! Stitches and pressure on fabric were perfect. Very easy to make adjustments to stitch length, width and foot pressure; extra motor for bobbin winding; easy bobbin insert. The Free Hand System is a bonus. I got the whole package in this gem. I have a Viking Designer Diamond Deluxe for sewing and embroidery, but Bernina is the way to go for quilting. This is a purchase I am very, very happy with!
I have wanted a Bernina for years. I was never able to do a good job of free motion quilting on my old machine, no matter how much I practiced I kept breaking needles. The stitch regulator is like having training wheels that make my stitches look fairly uniform without one broken needle so far.It kind of stutters when you first start sewing, which scared me a little at first, but I'm getting used to it.I think the prices are a little steep, after all, it is just a sewing machine and it's hard to justify the cost, but I would recommend it to anyone who loves to sew, and can afford it.
This machine met all of my expectations: extremely high-quality, easy to use, and in top condition after being gently used and properly maintained by its previous owner. It is exactly what I wanted for my love affair with quilting.

This is my second Bernina sewing machine and I couldn't be happier with it! I also have an old 830 Record, a mechanical machine that is going on 30 years old. Bernina quality can't be beat -- made in Switzerland by people that really know what they're doing. The 440QE was purchased with the BSR (Bernina Stitch Regulator) and the optional Embroidery Module. I've tested both of these additions and also all the fancy embroidery stitches built into the 440QE and they work perfectly! For regular sewing, as they always say "Nothing beats a Bernina!" It will take me a little time to become proficient with both the BSR (for free-motion quilting and embroidery) and the Embroidery Module (for software controlled machine embroidery) but I'm having a lot fun learning all the capabilities of this amazing machine!Read full review
