They work really well if you use them properly, as directed! I've been using them for 8 years, and they're the only ear amps that I've tried that are powerful enough to deliver quality sound at sufficient volume! Watch out for bootleg imitations! Insist on buying one that is brand new and elaborately packaged, Bell & Howell, "As seen on TV!" .. I am a lifelong musician, and I use mine as a little "monitor," of sorts when I'm playing and singing in little pubs. And small bars. Works amazingly well when the ear bud is inserted properly in the ear canal! The sound is almost like BIG "High Fidelity!" However, it is NOT stereo, obviously. Mono will do when you really need to hear what's going on around you. Some extraneous noise cannot be eliminated, entirely. .. I am profoundly deaf in my left ear, and that is where I use it. I have about 60% hearing loss in my right ear. I have not found a single device that works better, all things considered. Hearing aids sound like a telephone conversation, but this ear amp has real quality in tone! Please be advised, though. It's not for everyone and it's NOT good at noisy events. There is no modulation of frequencies. Every sound you hear will be much louder, but clear as a bell! There is very little distortion, even at high volume. It requires two little 1.5 Volt button batteries that can be purchased online by the hundreds, at about a Dime apiece! Don't bother paying $10.00 for 3 name brand batteries! I have noted absolutely NO appreciable difference in quality or durability, compared to 100 bought online for the same money, or less. Fresh batteries last about 24 hours which is very convenient. I am writing such a very lengthy review in hopes that I can help someone else with severe hearing loss. Don't fall for that crapware so many others are hawking on TV. I tried a bunch of them before I found this one from a trusted name, Bell & Howell!! They cost around $35.00 apiece on Amazon and eBay. I have several, as I keep a couple of spares at the ready! AGAIN, don't buy one in an open package! Don't buy a used one! Once you begin using yours you will find it absolutely indispensable! Sorry if I sound like a commercial!! All the Best. I’ve been wearing hearing aids for 20 years and you can’t beat the price of 20 bucks compared to the two grand they want for hearing aids that only last two years I use them for hunting they r great. This company also makes rechargeable ones. I like both and have many.

This device picks ups sound easily and amplifies, but echoes so badly I'm not sure it helps at all. It is like being in a well. The price is right, but I guess you get what you pay for.
