I was a Bee Gees fan long before their disco era success, and, frankly, didn't like their disco music except for one or two tunes. However, this DVD concert from 1997 is a winner. Barry, Robin and Maurice have a good time onstage revving up their enthusiastic audience with a good mix of old and new. Their renditions of "Massachusetts" and "I Started a Joke" are wonderful, and this live version of "Islands In The Stream" (which I hadn't heard before)is many times better than the studio version. Even "Stayin' Alive" and "Tragedy" are very well done here. My favorite part of the concert is when they do a medley of several of their hits "unplugged" with just Barry playing guitar and the brothers harmonizing; I could tell they enjoyed it too. Knowing that Maurice is no longer with us made watching this concert bittersweet, but if you like the Bee Gees music this is definitely a DVD to have and watch over and over.Read full review
Excellent show. Moved along from one hit to another. Barry worked hard on this show. I expect this DVD will be the last live show as Andy and Maurice have both died. Soooo Sad and such a loss to Music. This group were Unique in their style. I did miss the Lead Guitar player on the original "Islands in the Stream" George Terry... He added a lot to the original recording. The Light Show was excellent. If you were into the Bee Gees when they were on top, then you should have this DVD in your collection. You won't be dissappointed.
This, believe is one of the last concerts of the Bee Gees before the untimely demise of one of them. Very sad. I have always been a Bee Gees fan and I like this DVD very much. The Bee Gees performed like they were young and still raring to make a name in the music industry. Their enthusiasm to please their fans around the globe has never waned performance after performance. Truly an excellent presentation by one of the greatest groups the International Music Industry has ever produced. Get this one and the Bee Gees will easily bring you back to yester years of quality music and performance.
Awesome performances from all 3 brothers! The song with Andy Gibb (their late younger brother) was just incredible and tear-jerking all at the same time!! Highly recommended for ANY Bee Gee's fan, even if you only know a couple of their songs, they are all fantastic!! Celine Dion's guest appearance was also just phenominal!! Great for the whole family!! Full concert length too!! This has been MY review!! Over and out!!
A must watch if you're a Bee Gees fan! One of their last performances before the death of Maurice. Their music spans 3 decades and is much more than just Saturday Night Fever.
