I have to say there is not much about this movie that impressed me. The reviews I have read about this movie all told how Tony Jaa was "the next best human special effect since Jet Li." Of course recently he has put out some amazing movies like The Protector, Ong Bak, and Ong Bak 2 which are great movies. Since these movies thought Tony Jaa seems to be the poster boy for the team behind these movies to sell their movies. This is the third movie I have bouht recently with him on the cover because they were said to be good movies. Battle Warrior being the latest and being a big upset also. The acting is way below par and Jaa makes very few appearances in the movie just like some others I have bought that has his face on the cover. Even the action and martial arts sequences were only average. Rececntly though the team behind this movie has made some excellent martial arts films. Now many of their older films are coming around since they have gotten to be a major seller in the martial arts industry and Jaa if one is a big fan of him might buy it just on a whim. Just to say from now on I will read more into movies when I see his face on the cover and I would like to tell others to do the same even if you are a big fan of Jaa like I am.Read full review
I may have not liked this as much due to the fact that I had seen "The Protector" and "Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior" before this. This is definately more in line with the older martial arts movies. Except, this is extremely low budget. You can literally see someone get kicked in the air with the sun is rising, then see them hit the ground when the sun has set. The martial arts themselves are definately good though. Even with a low budget though, you can still make a good movie. It would've been better if they had more organization so they could make certain scenes cut during the same time of day. I will say though, it was more easily ignored with the hilarious dubbed voices.
this movie never should have made it to the states. for one thing tony jaa isn't even the star of the movie, he's the bad guy's henchman. the quality of the movie is poor. and the action is B-movie at best. some of the stuff they run into will make you want to watch this movie in fast forward. worst thing of all though, is that the people that brought this movie stateside knew that it sucked so much, that the main pictures on the cover aren't even from the movie. there weren't enough good scenes to make a good cover!
Now this good rating is not given for what the creators had in the movie. They intended it an action film. No, this good comes from the laughs I had at the movie. Not bitter, cynical laughs, but good "Wow this movie is fucking ridiculous" laughs. Between the zombies, thai men in crude blackface (humorous interpretation of film characters) and the utterly bad voice dubbing, this movie is entertainment incarnate. Good laughs for a crowd who can revel in bad cinema. Oh yeah, Tony Jaa has a bit part, that kinda sucks
I bought this because Tony Jaa is in it and he is not the star or the main character. It is no where near as good as Ong-Bak or the Protector. As a movie as a whole it is not bad but it is not the best either. I found the movie entertaining but it is not one of those movies that you would watch again and again. The movie is new but it does not have great production value. It does not look like a movie made now. It looked like it was filmed 30 years ago. Tony Jaa promoted movies can be decieving so be cautious in buying a movie with him in it.
