PLOT: he lost his wife to a terrorist. ARE the family next door terrorists or is HE just paranoid? FAST paced thrills~ Jeff Bridges teaches a college class on terrorism that allows him to deal with the death of his wife ~ a former FBI agent who died at the hands of a terrorist. AFTER finding a child badly burned in the street his quick trip to the ER saves the boy and he meets his new neighbors TIM ROBBINS JOAN COSACK a nice couple who are grateful~ but some odd mail sets Farradays mind (BRIDGES) to have sudden suspicions about his neighbors~ why did HE changes his name? WHY did he get arrested for building a bomb at age 16? the endless disturbing things he finds via newspaper searches and the internet and plain old spy on the neighbors have him more worried about the couple next door~ are they terrorists or is HE just paranoid? this moves along fast~ Jeff Bridges is very good as the man not far short of a breakdown. Timothy Robbins and Joan Cusack as the friendly and concerned couple WE like~ fast paced and lots of twists and turns~ I GIVE IT 4 OUT OF 5 FOR GREAT PLOT~ VERY GOOD ACTING AND ADDED FUN plot~ is HE nuts or are they really going to KILL alot of people with a bomb?Read full review
A nice thriller, with an unconventional ending. Pros include good performances all around by Cusack, Robbins, and Bridges. Pros also include good characterization, and ample time spent making the audience empathize with the main character. Cons include the ending to a degree, and while I won't spoil it, the execution of it did not feel logical. The first two-thirds of the film built the suspense slowly, layer by layer, but the last third felt as if it was scrambling to make the shock/twist ending work. I think conceptually the ending was flawed, and not logical in terms of the character and the timing, but I do salute the filmmakers from not watering the ending down. Miscellaneous, the extras contain a fascinating, weaker alternate ending and a good discussion by the director as to why the original ending was chosen. Overall, a well-made thriller that breaks down slightly at the ending, but with enough good performances and plot to bring it off adequately. A fine, intelligent watch.Read full review
Thought provoking given the theme and the environment we are in today. The Oklahoma bombing also stand out in my mind as I saw this movies. Very good!

If I had seen this movie before I purchased it, I would not have bought it. I guess I expected more out of it than what it gave, but that is only a personal preference. I thought it kind of "dragged" on, and I couldn't wait for it to end. WCW

Spooky! Following a few years after the OKC bombing, this movie captures the mood of the country at that time. Uneasy wariness, but complacency. After all, the Murrah bombing was a discrete event and couldn't happen again. This movie precedes the events of 9/11 by a couple of years. We're now all a lot older and wiser. Jeff Bridges gives another solid dramatic performance, supported by neighbors Tim Robbins and Joan Cusack. There's just something that's not right about them. Jeff investigates, and the story unfolds in haunting fashion. Super plot and cast. Reminiscent of the Parallax View (early '70s, starring Warren Beatty and Paula Prentiss), Arlington Road has enough twists and turns to keep you off-balance until the final jolting scenes. It's definitely worth a viewing!
