The iPod I bought was of the last generation of iPods, very thin, in several colors and high capacity topping at 160GB, before they line was discontinued 3 or 4 years ago,In the height of MP3 players, iPods were the dominating product, easy to use, great functionality and sound, Initially it was a bit bulky due to the size of the hard drive and battery and with relatively small capacity (5-10 gigs), constrained by the existing technology, but that didn't stop many of music aficionados like me, to start converting their music CD collection and creating an iTunes library, as time went by, Apple came out with models with more capacity and thinner,. The 120GB I got was almost like new condition, no scratches and working perfectly.

I was unable to sync any music to the iPod so I used the CopyTrans software and I was able to sync a few thousand songs. Every time I tried to sync with iTunes there were errors.I thought it might be because the hard drive wasn't formatted correctly so after formatting to Fat32 I ran diagnostics and it had 16000 bad sectors. I ran 2 different hard drive recovery programs that failed. After testing I wasn't able to sync with CopyTrans anymore. The hard drive needs to be replaced.

When Apple launched it's iPod series, I doubt that even they had any idea how far and how widely accepted the iPod would become. This goes to show that if you truly develop an exceptional product, people will want it. [If you build it, they will come]. Based on a HDD, the iPod Classic remains stiff competition. Although there are newer, lighter, more appealing models of the iPod, there is just something about owning an iPod classic. You are part of history. Sure the new Classic is much improved to the 1st generation models, with its smaller form factor, sleeker design, and inclusion of Video. If you are looking for storage space for your HUGE music library, this model is the way to go. It's nice to have flash based players, but you will never get the storage space of a HDD based device. 120gb is AMPLE space for my library, with room for more. The Classic also can double as an external drive, which is excellent to move files around for the always-on-the-go traveler. The sound from the included ear buds is satisfactory, and if left in for long periods, it may be a little uncomfortable. That is the only reason I didn't give it an "Excellent" rating. The iPod Classic fits in your pocket, which makes it great to take with you on the go. There are a slew of accessories available which is scary for your wallet. All in all, a great product! Highly recommended.Read full review
The iPod is a great little device to always have your MP3 library on the go with you. Strongly recommend you upgrade the standard earbuds to perhaps a full earcup style headphones like the Sennnheiser HD202 model which can be found online for around $20. Fantastic sound at a great price. Using iTunes with the iPod can be frustrating at times with all the limitations and restrictions imposed by Apple, Inc. The new iPod classic is noticeably less responsive to touch commands than earlier generation iPod models. The vast amount of storage space in the 120GB model is worth the investment if it costs you less than $200, such as did mine. The video capability is nice but it can become uncomfortable viewing video on such a small screen after a short while. Even if you do not own much digital music, there is plenty of free podcasts online and in iTunes, both video and audio podcasts, to keep you occupied and entertained for quite a while. The ability to create and save a new playlist on the go is a nice feature. The iPod is here to stay!Read full review
iPods are great when they work...the only problem is, this is my 3rd one in my life. In general if you take good care of it, they'll last, but sometimes there are aberrations and/or flukes. My last one was only 2 years old when it crapped the bed. My new iPod Classic hasn't given me any problems yet. Seems good. Having 120 Gigs is amazing, I don't have to be selective about what movies/music I put on it. It's pretty great having an iPod with a hard drive almost the size of my entire computer. iPod's are so great that even when they break we buy new ones -- I just wish Apple's best selling product was more reliable. That's why I don't give the "excellent" rating.
