The 60GB Photo is no longer produced by Apple (2005), but happens to be a great value for your dollar. If you don't need to carry your device around all the time (i.e. leave this in the car) then this is for you. This iPod is quite a bit bigger than the 20 and 30gb cousins, so keep that in mind for portability. It makes up for that by holding 15,000 songs - or more pictures than you really care to talk about. This iPod doesn't show videos - which I don't need anyway - but I do like the fact that you can view photos or set up a slideshow on a TV set with the optional AV cable. This iPod has a good battery life (approx. 12 hours). It's the same form factor as the 40gb 4th generation so there's a big improvement in size/capacity between these models. Get a protective skin or case, these scratch easily. Overall I think this is a great iPod - but an even better value, since you can get them for far less than the newer 60GB video models. You don't give up much in the way of features for a considerable cost savings.Read full review
I have never had an iPod so I wanted one that was affordable and had easy to find accesories. The price was right and it was easy to use even for a novice. The iPod charges very quickly and holds more music than I need, but it also holds a lot of photos. Being a grandmother, I love having my photos and my fingertips. Instead of hauling out a bunch of pictures, I have my own personal digital album to share with everyone. I also bought the 80 G ipod for my son as he has a more extensive music collection, so in comparing the two I am very pleased with my 60 G. The only negative is that this is a slightly thicker iPod so I have not found a case that fits yet because the ports appear to be in a different location than most cases I have found. All in all I am very pleased.
Best large-capacity MP3 player. The iPod dominates the market among hard-drive players, and it's still an overwhelming favorite in reviews. The latest iPod plays both photos and video on its color screen, but reviews say the 2.5-inch screen is too small for extended viewing. If you don't need room for 7,500 songs, the iPod nano and Zen Micro Photo are smaller and lighter than the 4.8-ounce iPod. The Creative Zen Micro Photo doesn't have the iPod's easy interface, but the Zen Micro does have an FM tuner and voice recorder, and it's compatible with the latest music-subscription services The iPod has none of these features. A 60GB iPod sells for $400. The iPod is both Mac and Windows compatible.
While a bit 'chunkier' than newer, flatter ipods... the 60GB Photo iPod is a TANK compared to new 5th generation iPods. I owned one of these for nearly 3 years with ZERO problems (of course, being careful with it also helps). This is an ipod that will be loyal to you as long as you don't abuse it. If you can do without video and just want a reliable jukebox, this ipod could be a good value. **HEY STUPID PEOPLE, "REVIEWS" ARE FOR PRODUCTS IN GENERAL , NOT REVIEWS FOR EBAY OR SELLERS! It has alot of space, and can hold pictures music or movies. For 120 dollars it is a steal that is basically up to speed with all the newer models and will function for me for years to come. It has alot of new functions that my 4th generation 20 gb model did not have, The color screen really helps and there is now album covers for each album on your ipod. you can also set lyrics for songs which would come in handy for me because i like to look at lyrics. I have yet to try out this feature yet though.
