I've tried a few MBs over the years, none of which I will list so as not to prejudice anyone considering another brand. I came across this board as I was trying to find a good one for a recent build. I was skeptical at first until it arrived. Upon receiving it, it opened the box. It was nice--pretty. But as any rig builder will tell you "pretty" by no means equals "functional". I was impressed with the board's layout; it's an ATX board made for a mid tower or larger. It's "open", lot of room for large cpu cooling fans like mine without protruding to far over the ram modules. I love this board. It can easily handle the components I chose for my personal use. My new "child" consists of 32gbs of Corsair Vengeance ddr3 ram, an AMD FX-8300 Vishera 8-core processor, a DeepCool 90mm cpu fan, 2 EVGA GeForce GTX 760 Super Clocked ACX graphics cards SLI-ed with an EVGA SLI long bridge, an NZXT Sentry 3 5.25 bay 5-channel fan controller, and guess what? This board STILL drools for more. She'll handle up to 64gbs of ram, but 32gbs is enough for my applications. I'm not a gamer, so nothing's overclocked. However, if I were, I'd highly recommend this MB to anyone who is. She's a very stable board. I've been running her for a few good months and it's handled all tasks without a flicker. The onboard sound is phenomenal, but a gamer might want to consider a sound card. Installation is very easy, and so is bios updating. ASRock offers a Live Update and App shop for simple entertainment or system optimization. The onboard LAN is very fast, and, yes, she handles operating systems up to Windows 10. Older opsys, like Windows XP, I don't know, but she should. For the money, she's an excellent bargain, certainly as good as--if not better than--some of the more expensive ones on the market. Like some who are considering this product, I did my research, which led me to the negative reviews. Fear not! EVERY product on the market will have SOME badmouthing if it's reviewed by more than three people. But not everyone is going to be pleased with everything, so don't let that deter you. If you're seriously thinking of buying this MB, I can certainly tell you that you won't be disappointed. AS really does ROCK!Read full review

Used to replace a less capable older motherboard, while utilizing all of the same components. It immediately showed its superiority by exhibiting faster boot times corresponding to its innately faster I/O. I haven't even been able to start to use the majority of its advanced features, and although it is not the most powerful PC I own by far it is among the fastest and most flexible. Excellent technology remains excellent despite the passage of time. Since I can't currently afford any bleeding edge technology, older technologies that more than get the job done fit the bill.

it allowed me to use my existing AMD Phenom CPU and DDR3 ram while adding a slot for a M.2 nvme SSD, and has a UEFI motherboard to use the nvme in its GPT format. All good. Except for the fact that the PCIE is still slower version 2.0 which acts as a bottleneck for the fast PCIE SSD. Still, it perfomrs dependably and is better the my previous motherboard without nvme or UEFI. Read speeds about 1500 mbs and write only 348 mbs.

It is unique mother board, with both really old and new features. It has no graphics display on board, so you must put in graphics card. Everything I switch from old board, to this new one, performed better in bench tests. I did have to do a clean new reboot. I am very pleased, keeping fingers crossed, I will have years, hopefully decade of good us.
