Excellent functioning device. Surge protects 10 devices, 5 of which are battery backed, so you got time to manually shut things down when the power blows out. I live rurally & my power does all kinds of tricks, causing massive equipment failures, replacements or repairs. Except for really extreme surges this product stops all that. Also stops weird signals from going through my guitar amps & out my speakers. I bought used on ebay &, I think, did well here, under $40.

I bought this product to ensure continuity of business during an extended power outage. This product was intended to power modem and 2 routers. What I like about this product is the nice display on front that gives you a clear idea of how much run time is remaining. I also like that APC installed fans to keep the circuitry cool while the battery is discharging (keeping the temperature cool makes the cells last longer when they're discharging, believe it or not, even if it's a draw on the battery). What I don't like about this product is that it doesn't have the interconnect like the newer 1500 which allows you to connect a second battery for even greater runtime. This product is very comparable to other brands. I'm an APC loyalist, so this may not mean much to anyone else, but the MTBF for APC products is much higher than other brands. Enough said. It's cheaper to replace the battery and keep on using it.Read full review
I purchased 4 of these units used off of eBay. When they arrived I found the expected bad batteries from normal use. Three out of the four had anything from display problems to not working while on battery. What I found inside of three of the units was a obviously bad capacitor. The capacitor cost was $2.84, a little bit of soldering, and about a half hour disassembly/assembly and I have four working units instead of one. I'm a fan of APC UPS's and have used them for years both at home and at my place of work. They have proven to be very reliable. I like these primarily because of the load capacity and the LCD display. The display provides a lot of useful information. The bar graphs on the older models were helpful but didn't quite provide the information I was looking for. The cooling fans being on when on battery is a concern but I'm hoping their small size will mean that they won't be a major draw on the batteries. So far these units are excellent and I'm glad I purchased them. The 4 rating is only because of the defective capacitor which is an easy fix.Read full review
I was having problems, because my electricity supply is marginal, with my computers shutting down when there was a milli-second loss of power. The old backup power supply was not doing the job anymore. Replaced it with this one and I haven't had a problem since.

I bought this to protect my investment in my computer and its peripherals. Its ability to seamlessly kick in when power goes out is crucial, also allowing me the chance to safely shut down is piece of mind i need. The ability to add an additional battery is also a plus, as there might be a need for me to get online in the event of an extended power interruption. This was a good purchase. I would definitely recommend.
