The Independents-God Called In Sick Today. If you can imangine Misfits doing a cover of this song than that'll give you an idea. Great vocals and the band does a great job throwing in thier own thing but staying true to the original. overall a good cover. Atlantis Black-I Wanna A Mohawk. This band is more of a industrial goth band. They take an old school hardcore punk song and slows down the tempo way too much. They tried too hard to make the song thiers, pays no homage to AFI. Not really my cup of tea, so I'd have to say this is a very poor cover. Pure 13-Malleus Maleficarum. This is by far one of the most dissapointing tracks on the cd. I had such high hopes since this is one of my all time favorites! The band is right on que, but the lead singer butchers the lyrics beyond all recognition. Plus they misspelled maleficarum on the back cover. Pisser-High School Football Hero. Now this is a true cover staying true to the original but throwing in thier own personal style, love it. Sanctity Returns(feat. Lust)-Totalimmortal. with this song it needs screaming raspy vocals. But you get denied the basics in this cover Lust sings great but for this song you dont want clear, crisp vocals. And she tends to be off lyric wise. The Grave Matters-Girls Not Grey. These guys are right on with the cover. With this being part of AFI's new sound thier is some higher expectations, but they definitly pool through. Weeb-Let It Be Broke. Another song that requires deep in the gut screaming. I think that Lust is singing in this song as well, she would do great in a cover of some of AFI's new material but the old hardcore stuff, she is out of her element. Diamonds(feat.Lust)-Ever And A Day. Now this is a song tailored to Lust singing talents great cover. Weeb-3 1/2. Same thing as thier other cover band gots it, singer is not up to the task. Unearthed(Lust)-The Days Of The Phoenix. A higher tempo but since this is a softer song it fits with the band. Weeb-Perfect Fit. The way it starts out I'm thinking "man these guys might play this song better than AFI". but than you hear the lead singer and it kills it. Gothoclypse-Now The World. The best cover on the cd just because the difficulty of the song both musically and vocally. Overall this cd is mediocre. Most of these bands are great with doing the covers, but the singers are like the wrech that was thrown in the gears. This cd too much of a hit and miss.Read full review
