This book is the amazing continuation of the story started by A Game of Thrones. Now, three books later, I'm still hanging on each line and marveling at the scope of the work done by the author. The political power plays, the epic battles, and the vast array of deeply thought out and finely tuned characters in their own internal struggles keeps me coming back for more and wishing the author Godspeed on the rest of the series. Characters such as Davos Seaworth, Jaime, Cercei and Tyrion Lannister, Arya Stark, Jon Snow, and Daenarys Targaryen are so colorful and life-like, I could almost think I'd open a history book and find them there. I never know who will live and who will die. By far, this is my favorite series I've ever read. Now, if only Mr Martin will finish writing his last volumes so that I can call my collection complete.Read full review
George R. R. Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire" series is about the best fantasy series I have ever read, and I have read a lot of books in this category. The characters are very well developed, complex and believable. It makes you wish you could meet them (some because you hate them and others because you love them.) The way he describes the environment, the customs of the people, all of it seems exactly as if he looked back in time to a medieval period and just described what he saw. There are a lot of gruesome descriptions of war and killing and all that, but also a lot of humor mixed in. Everyone should read all the books in the series... each one is better than the last, and personally I can't wait for the next one to be published!
George RR Martin weaves a tapestry of characters, an ensemble whose individual members collide and produce unexpected twists, turns, and surprises. Someone you thought was a "minor character" morphs into a "major player" and the anticipation of seeing where the journey through the chronicles takes you makes for a can't-put-down adventure for the reader. In order to fully understand and appreciate Feast for Crows, the reader needs to begin at the beginning of the series, because each subsequent installment assumes you have read the precursor novels. I highly recommend this book for all lovers of fiction, since the sci-fi or fantasy aspect is really secondary to the telling of a grand old yarn in the epic tradition. G.R.R. Martin keeps a rapturous story just as suspensful and amazing as the last three book. This book continues the struggles and truimphs of all the characters on their collective and individual journeys. This is the first book in a long while that whether I like the character or not I have to know what is going to happen to them. Waiting on the upcoming book this September has been torture. Come and immerse yourself in a world where ploitics are deadly magic is awakening again and the winter coming may not end. This book I would really recomend to older readers or anyone who has a great love of fantasy and politics as the depth in this book is staggering. 100% worth reading.
I am in the process of replacing the first editions of this series that I lost while moving about two years ago. With the current popularity of the TV series, these copies are no longer available at the Half-priced book stores and new prints have overtaken the older ones that I used to own. Being able to replace these copies means so much to me, it's almost giving me those years back. Thanks for putting these up.
