This is seriously the toughest little flip phone you will ever find. It can really take a beating. The replaceable extended use battery lasts for days. The available charging dock is great. Just pop the phone into the cradle without having to open the tab. The MicroSD provides extra storage so you can carry your own tunes, photos, etc.. The Casio G'zOne Boulder is easy to use and has loads of fun and useful options...flashlight, pedometer, compass, calendar, calculator and much more. It fits snug in your hand and in your pocket. And this color is not only good looking it makes it easy to locate. :) If you or a loved one prefer an old school flip phone or would just like to have a sturdy spare on hand this is a great choice. I wish Casio would continue to offer this phone but with the newer and faster 4G/LTE. As of now it is still only 3G.Read full review

For it's small overall profile the phone is suprisingly bulky. This is due to the oversized rear mounted battery which holds a charge about as efficiently as a government run operation. The functionality is crude. For instance - when sending multiple texts there is no alphabetic prompt; one must type out the entire name of each recipient exactly as it appears in the phone book. The text function lacks an auto capitalization feature, and my phone repeatedly defauilts to numerals. This is annoying. The reception is inferior to my previous phone - a basic LG flip model. My summarized conclusion: short battery life inferior reception clumsy text function bulky design Hate it.

The phone is really rugged. In my engineering class I placed it in a bowl of water. We then called my phone and it still worked! I've thrown it across my room to prove how strong it is. It's INDESTRUCTIBLE! There are barely any scratches on it! There is one flaw: the software. Why does verizon contract Casio to build indestructible phones, yet program it with terrible software? The network speed is incredible. It downloads media faster than any phone I've used. However for a messaging phone the processing is weak. Sometimes when I get into texting the phone will shut off when messaging too much. To fix this all I do is turn the phone off for a few minutes. When I turn it back on, it always works perfectly for several hours. Likewise, because it is waterproof it means that nothing gets in or out. When you put that much padding on a phone some sound will be compromised. Granted Casio compensated by putting in one of the loudest and highest quality speakers I've ever heard in a cell phone, however the microphone is difficult to work with. You have to absolutely make sure the microphone is level with the corner of your mouth. Otherwise they cant hear you. Once you figure out how to talk into it, its is incredibly easy to use and truly an amazing phone. The only "real" problem is with the texting. However, this phone has been out for a while now, so soon Verizon should be releasing a software update for the phone which will hopefully fix the occasional text overload the phone can get. This is a great phone and I'll never buy another!Read full review
I bought the phone because I own, live and work on a horse breeding farm. The phone has the rough and tumble features such as dust, water resistance, and rugged case. The features the phone has such as the picture and video feature is valuable for taking pics on the fly. It has a PTT feature valuable for quick on-farm communication. What I dislike is the low talk time battery it comes with when people who would use this need the extra a040 or even 1600mah battery. I am sure travellers would appreciate this as well. Also a dislike is the buttons on the side that can be activated with a little pressure that causes the phone volume to decrease or give you something you did not want. All-in-all it is a better, attractive phone with many good features.
This is an excellent phone. It's the 2nd one Ive owned. I really like it because it has an excellent speaker system that can be easily heard. It's also a very very durable phone. There were differnt models of this phone made and so called "improvements" made, but from my talking to people, everyone said this was the best model. The local verizon dealers here locally also said that this model received the best feedback with the least complaints, as I did do a good bit of research before purchasing. ADVICE: Just because an outdated quality phone is no longer available at any given service provider, doesn't mean a new one can't be purchased. Ebay offers many brand new out dated or older model excellent quality phones.
This phone is moisture resistant, pretty drop resistant and has a lot of bells and whistles like a digital compass and light built in it. It also has a camera that works great! Great rugged phone though somewhat large sized. Not a text message friendly phone but neither am I. The stock battery charge doesn't last long as I wanted it to so I opted to buy on Ebay the extended version and will save the other for back up when out in the field. I recommend this phone!
This is a very good phone. Good price this phone does everything that I thought it would except get on the internet to get the latest apps. Have been to Verizon store serverial times and can't get it to work. Their's nothing wrong with the phone. I bought this phone because I haven't had a contract on my phone for over 3 years and didn't want to get into a contract again. The reason I can't get on the internet is because I didn't buy it from Verizon. It's a long story but that's the basic reason. I would still buy this phone again just for not having a contract. The battery that came with the phone didn't last very long at all when I would talk on it. I got the extented life battery and it works great.
I bought this phone after talking with a friend of mine. A couple of years ago, his house burned down. The local codes dept. wouldn't let him search the rubble for the first 2 weeks. When he finally did get to look inside, he heard a "beep" coming from under a rubble pile of wet drywall and lumber. He looked under all the muck, and found his Casio phone still operating, and it was beeping because he had a text message that was 2 weeks old. I bought a new phone off of Ebay, and had it flashed from Verizon to Cricket. I now have unlimited nationwide calls, unlimited internet, unlimited text and picture messaging for $40. The phone picks up and is loud and clear. So far, so good. I am rough on cell phones, but I think this one will hold up. I did buy an extended length battery so I didn't have to charge it every night.Read full review
What can I say, I've had this thing thru 2 free phone upgrades thru my company's Verizon 2-every-2 plan. That means that there are four brand new phones still in boxes because I prefer to use this one. Rugged, dependable, almost indestructible, with just the right amount of features to keep me happy. I work in the agricultural industry and my old G'zone had terrible things done to it over the years, and it still came up smiling. As long as these phones are available AND Verizon allows me to keep my "minutes" plan, I will keep this phone, thank you. Oh,always get an extended life battery (the thick one) When new, they hold a charge for damn near a week! Now the minuses: 1.Always get a G'zone Boulder with the added, front and rear speakers. My replacement only has the rear, and volume is not what I am used to. A minor point. 2.That darn battery lock in back is the weakest point on the phone. I've had to replace my two times after it snapped out/off after a severe mishap. Fortunately the replacement kits were available. 3.The battery adapter plug fits into a standard phone cradle, no problem there, however when using the adapter WITHOUT the cradle, or using the car charger, you must insert the adapter plug into a slot in the bottom of the phone, an extremely tight fit. It is impossible to plug in at night, and that tight fit has led to my pulling the battery jack section right out of the motherboard on both phones. Admittedly this was after a number of years of hard use, and you could still charge the phone in the cradle so it was still usable. I simply kept a small A/C adapter in my glove box to plug in the phone cradle until my new phone came in. All in all, this is a superior quality product, which is probably why they no longer make them. While my company's salespeople have gone to smart phones,a modern business necessity, the majority of my mechanics still carry their G'zones because of their rugged dependability.Read full review
I purchased this phone because it is rough and tough. Being someone that enjoys the outdoors often, it is what I needed because it can tolerate a fall and will resist water. It is simple to use, easy to understand and reliable. I do not trust the compass, even after it was setup properly and the included battery does not last very long. I upgraded the battery as of now and it is lasts much longer. The only thing I do not care for is the charge port cover, which is weak and mine broke off within the first few days. I find that the phone is plenty loud enough to easily hear the call on, and I would buy this phone again as long as I can get the model pictured with the raised speaker housing and the "casio" name inscribed.
