First, my Review Title "If You Want to Know the Real Jesus": Yes, I am aware of the fact that Jesus was Jewish and not white like the character in the film. The bible doesn't say, however, in terms of physical appearance the average Judean of the time would have likely had dark brown to black hair, olive skin, and brown eyes.
This particular version of the "Jesus" Film (1979) is in my opinion better than the updated version. I have watched this film many times over.
Because the voices are dubbed a little sometimes, in my opinion I am just "used to" the original version (as pictured above; even though this is also an updated picture from the original. I do think it captures things perfectly); and feels that it flows better than the updated version. Also with the updated version you can tell things were updated audio wise. It sounds good, but they used the original actors voices; which is "good" always, however, there has been some years passed by since 1979 which is understandable; the voice of Jesus sounds like an older gray haired colored man than what the character of Jesus looks like on film.
Love this version of the "Jesus" (1979) film!
The movie follows the Gospel of Luke very closely but not exactly. There is the odd chapter that it touches on very briefly in narration or skips over entirely. This is done to keep the movie at a reasonable 2-hour length. But it's not a problem to be able to follow along in your Bible virtually verse for verse
