Product Information
Modeled after Mattel's line of toys, Hot Wheels Mechanix is a PC racing game that allows players to customize their vehicles before racing, then earn upgrades on the track. Seven 3D environments set the racing stage and a multitude of vehicles are available as well. Collecting X-Tools for customization and winning every race are the game's primary objectives.

Players begin by selecting from a number of tracks including Urban Wasteland, Tiki Jungle, and Pluto Mines. Completing these tracks will unlock Construction Site, Beachway, Moon Base, and finally, the Asteroid Belt. Driving through each of the gates on a track successfully completes that track. Finishing in first place will unlock extra vehicles, but the race is lost if players miss two or more gates. Vehicle selection initially includes the choice of Track T, Cat-A-Pult, Screamin' Hauler, Silhouette II, Sol-Aire, CX4, or the Splittin' Image. Others are unlocked with successful racing and each can be configured by selecting paint jobs, tires, engines, and wings. Certain customization options will need to be earned by collecting X-Tool Boxes.

X-Tool Boxes include Silver, Gold, and Mechanix. Silver toolboxes are worth five tools, gold boxes are worth ten tools, and Mechanix toolboxes allow upgrades to be made to the vehicles. Gold and silver boxes are necessary for progress and the Mechanix toolboxes are necessary for customization of cars. Wings can be added to fly over obstacles, off-road tires can be added to race through mud and other track conditions, and engines can be upsized for faster speed. The game supports keyboard, gamepad, joystick and racing wheel controls.Product Identifiers
