About this product

Product Information

The Nikon Nikkor 35 mm f/2.0 D AF Lens is a fast, wide-angle telephoto lens with a big F/2.0 maximum aperture to enable high-quality pictures in low-quality light conditions. At a hardly-noticeable weight of only 7 oz, this Nikon camera lens does not add much bulk to the camera, and its fixed/prime focal length of 35 mm adds flexibility for handheld photographers on the go. Its portability and flexibility make the telephoto lens perfect for landscape shots, scenic portraits and environmental photography, regardless of the position of the sun. The Nikon Nikkor 35 mm f/2.0 D AF Lens features both automatic and manual focus options to offer the desired degree of control. The Nikon camera lens also uses Nikon's “D” (for distance) technology, which uses a built-in metering system to control the exposure of elements in the shot based on focusing distance, for those who wish to use it. All these factors make the Nikon Nikkor 35 mm f/2.0 D AF Lens a useful tool for outdoor, on-the-fly work.

  • vintages lenses are the way to go

too much glass isn't a good thing, this has just enough, super light, super crisp, great contrast and for the newbs out there, sharp enough- more sharp than a bunch of nikons new marketed lenses. Do your self a favor and get this lens if you want a 35mm ( note you have to switch to manually focus it, the only downside if you are use to always grabbing the focus ring and adjusting when in autofocus

  • Excellent lens at a great price

Very easy to find at great prices, With the latest digital cameras, using high ISO instead of buying and f1.4 lens is much more sensible for the vast majority of shooters. See both Thom Hogan's and Ken Rockwell's websites as both love this lens.

  • Small, sharp, and classic.

Great classic lens and focal length. Awesome image quality, and it's nice and light. I personally prefer 35mm over 50mm for a walk-around lens, and this one never leaves my camera. It's a great addition to any photographic arsenal.

  • Nikon old metal D lens 35mm

Sharp, excellent optics and colours. Only manual on Dx D3500, however easy to guess settings and manual focus. On future D850 it will be fully automatic. Small metal jew. Quality that lasts.

  • Lovely 35mm

Currently using this lens on my Nikon F4... at F/2 it's fast, good enough for pretty low light situations, and sharp. It's a great general purpose lens. If you want a good deal on an autofocus 35mm lens ... this is a good one to get. If you've got a crop sensor (DX) Nikon camera body, the 35mm 1.8 G lens (DX) brand new is under 200 bucks, and it's just as good if not better for that application. I use this lens on an older film camera body and I love it.

  • Excelllent compact lens.

Compact, light, and sharp. I'm sure the newer 35's are better for edge to edge sharpness, or for avoiding chromatic aberration, but this is a super small lens perfect for street photography. It pairs extremely well with my Nikon F4 on film. I purchased it expressly to have a good film street setup, and this fit the bill perfectly. The screw drive autofocus is magical when you're coming from phase detect as on the newer cameras - no hunting. If you're using a cheaper Nikon body without an AF motor drive (read - anything with the FTZ adapter, or any of the myriad of cheaper DSLRs) you won't get autofocus with this or any AF-D lens. They require that built in motor, but it's really part of the magic of these lenses, so would almost recommend that you seek out a cheap body to take advantage of it. If you have a DX body, you are probably better served by the 35mm DX 1.8, it's mostly as compact and will give you AF as well.

  • Amazing Lens

The images are outstanding, very very sharp, even wide open. I have a Nikon 85 mm f1.8 which I will sell because Tokina gives superior images. The color and contrast are excellent. Ahsan Zaki

  • Great Lightweight Lens For Everyday Carry

35mm is a good choice for street photography and landscapes. It's lightweight for all-day carry, it's size doesn't scare people, and on a DX camera would give you the field of view of a "normal" lens. Note that the "D" version, the one I am reviewing, does NOT autofocus on cameras that do not have the built-in autofocus motor. If you use the Df, D800, D810, D4, D5, etc, you will have the autofocus function. The "D" series of lenses are generally sharp, and lighter in weight than their "G" counterparts that include focus motors. Try it, you might like it!

  • Nikkor 35mm f2D is excellent

This lens is very sharp almost at all apertures, however it is brilliant from f4. Absolutely perfect for street photography due to the distance to subject adequate and its very lightweight. Perfect for travelling and for almost every day situation. I like even more than the 50mm (which is good also).

  • Great prime for some all around shots

Wide open it’s a little soft but so what!! Believe it or not….. Most portrait shooting lenses can be this way. Outdoor walk about shooting, outstanding at f5.6 to 4. These older lenses are a bargain and can be found in great shape.
