I recently bought my first digital SLR, a Pentax K 100D. It came with the kit lens, an 18 -50mm DA. I bought the camera because I have owned a Pentax Spotmatic for over 40 years, have 3 lenses for it, extention tubes and a 3xs tele converter. Obviously I like the quality of the Pentax camera line. When researching to buy my first digital camera, I discovered that nearly every lens made by Pentax and other companies that fit pentax cameras, with the proper adapter, will fit Pentax digital SLRs. I bought the 50mm-200mm to compliment the kit lens. I am very happy with it. I got it from a good seller and got it at an excillent price. I went out last weekend to a waterfowl refuge and got some great shots of Tundra Swans, Allution Geese, Egrits, and Marsh Hawks. I plan to use E-bay to shop for a prime lens I can use for macro photography and maybe a wide-angle prime for some street photography. I have shopped on Ebay for my photography equipment for over 5 years and am very pleased with my purchases. Sometimes you just need to tighten in on a subject when physically moving closer isn’t available. That reality means a 50mm-200mm zoom is the perfect companion to the 18mm-55mm lens that usually comes with a camera. This unit is great for DA and Pentax K-mount compatible cameras. I like that the glare protector mounts backwards on the unit until needed. That’s so much handier than having to dive back into the bag for it. You won’t be able to take close ups of the moon with a 200mm but some enchanted evening when you see a stranger across a crowded room you will be able to zoom in for a nice headshot.

I recently purchased a digital Pentax camera. The lens that was included in the package was a standard 18-55mm. I wanted another lens to capture images farther away and bring them up close, but a lens that I would not have to rely on using a tripod with. This Pentax 50-200mm lens is perfect for that purpose. I have used it for portraits as well as scenery. It is very lightweight which scares me a little because I don't know how well it will take the bumps and knocks of my photography profession. I do like it though overall and am very satisfied.
I am pleasantly surprised at the quality of this lens for the price. Autofocus is fast and reasonably quiet. Zooming is nice and smooth and the 4X zoom range is quite useful. The lens is light and compact, but you do pay for that in brightness. You need decent sun to get a fast shutter when zoomed out to 200mm without switching to a higher ISO sensitivity. Overall I would recommend this lens for anyone looking for a nice utility lens to extend their range. However for sports or low light wildlife work you may want to save up for a faster lens like the DA Star 200mm F2.8.
I just received the product today and took some test shots. The results look good. The item came as advertised - Brand new w/ all the paperwork including warranty. I bought this product to to complement the normal lens - this addresses the distant subject. This product is compact and light weight, a plus to my disability - shooting with one hand requires having to balance the camera and lens. The Normal lens does a great job for most of needs but sometimes I find the need to bring the subject closer. This lens will do the job for me.
