Excellent lens with ONE caveat
I would've given this lens 5 stars except for two factors: perhaps most importantly, the lens does NOT have a tripod mount. While it is a lot lighter than similar Canon lenses (the Vivitar weighs less than 2 pounds), it is not easy to hand hold! I am trying to find a clamp on tripod mount that will fit SOMEWHERE on the lens. The other factor is the lack of image stabilization. I cannot complain too much about this absence since the price of the lens is MUCH lower than any of the image stabilized models. Auto focus is difficult when shooting through tree branches. Manual focus works, but is a little spastic on the lens I bought. Perhaps it just needs exercise to limber up. I've used it a couple of times with extremely satisfactory results. Got a great photo of what I think is a red shouldered hawk sitting in a tree. Because of the lack of image stabilization, I doubt that I could get a great photo of the bird in flight; BUT - MAYBE!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
