Ok optics but great price point. I’ll be using at the beach to photograph surfers so salt air and sand WILL take their toll. Expect 1 season out of it. Much better than trashing a $2K lens for routine shots

Image with 500 mm lens is good. Better to use digital zoom rather than doubler for sharp image. Camera vibration makes use of good tripod and remote shutter necessary. Supplied i/r remote shutter does not work on D3100 (not supported by camera)

I bought this lens to expand my photography hobby. I like the range of this lens and the weight is very easy to work with. It can be used easily without using a tripod. The manual focus takes a bit to get used to as it is VERY sensitive, so a slight adjustment makes a big difference. The zoom on this lens is amazing. I have gotten some wonderful shots using this lens and I would assume they will only get better with more practice.
It is a surprisingly good lens - especially given the price. It’s definitely sharp enough and is very contrasts. The images have good clarity. I’ve only shot a few images with it so far (a huge alligator) and I am satisfied with the results.

It was a gift, the thought was sweet. As for the lens, I’d give it a C-, need a sturdy tripod, will be great for moon shots- since it’s Manual focus mode, Not good for wildlife, it takes time to focus in, Best to save $100. to go towards the $2500. Plus lens. The kit was complete, arrived in a timely - good condition. I would not recommend for the Serious photographer.
