Fantastic story, fantastic characters with development, and amazing connection to the rest of the Cosmere. Life-changing book.
This is a fantasy book series with compelling characters dealing with trauma, addiction, mental health issues, insecurities, and overcoming their own mental blocks to advance as people and heroes in their own world. You'll find representation of all people in this series over time. The fanbase casually calls this book series "a self-help book masquerading as fantasy." Brandon Sanderson approaches people with disabilities and mental health struggles as well as professionals to accurately portray his characters in their vivid, three-dimensional character development. However, not only is it great for the soul, it's great for the story and the roller coaster that it is. Sanderson's done it again, and he just keeps doing it, writing as much as he is able. The Stormlight Archive is a lynchpin in his Cosmere, an overarching magical universe which unites most of his book series in a overarching epic. Try Mistborn(6 books), Elantris, and Warbreaker, the other books in the series(although I believe Stormlight Archive is his masterpiece.) Dive into Arcanum Unbounded to find secret histories, novellas, and short stories all through the Cosmere. Or, if you're just interested in a good read, pick up Way of Kings and let yourself feel for a while.
