SynopsisScott Kelby, author of The Digital Photography Book (the best-selling digital photography book of all time), is back with another follow-up to his smash best-seller, with an entirely new book that picks up right where volume 3 left off. It's even more of that "Ah ha, so that' s how they do it," straight-to-the-point, skip-the-techno-jargon stuff people can really use today, and that made volume 1 the world's best-selling book on digital photography. This book truly has a brilliant premise, and here's how Scott describes it: "If you and I were out on a shoot and you asked me, 'Hey Scott, I want the light for this portrait to look really soft and flattering. How far back should I put this softbox?' I wouldn't give you a lecture about lighting ratios, or flash modifiers. In real life, I'd just turn to you and say, 'Move it in as close to your subject as you possibly can, without it actually showing up in the shot.' Well, that's what this book is all about: you and I out shooting where I answer questions, give you advice, and share the secrets I've learned, just like I would with a friend--without all the technical explanations and techie photo speak." Each page covers a single concept on how to make your photography better. Every time you turn the page, you'll learn another pro setting, tool, or trick to transform your work from snapshots into gallery prints. If you're tired of taking shots that look "okay," and if you're tired of looking in photography magazines and thinking, "Why don't my shots look like that?" then this is the book for you. This isn't a book of theory, full of confusing jargon and detailed concepts. This is a book on which button to push, which setting to use, and when to use it. With another 200 of the most closely guarded photographic "tricks of the trade," this book gets you shooting dramatically better-looking, sharper, more colorful, more professional-looking photos every time., Scott Kelby, author of The Digital Photography Book, Volume 1 , is back with yet another follow-up with an entirely new book that picks up right where he left off with Volume 3 . It's even more of that "Ah ha, so that' s how they do it," straight-to-the-point, skip-the-techno-jargon stuff students can really use today to make their shots even better. This book truly has a brilliant premise, and here's how Scott describes it: "If you and I were out on a shoot and you asked me, 'Hey Scott, I want the light for this portrait to look really soft and flattering. The Digital Photography Book, Volume 4 follows in the footsteps of the wildly successful previous volumes, giving photography students nearly two hundred more closely guarded photographic "tricks of the trade" to get them shooting dramatically better-looking, sharper, more colourful, more professional-looking photos with their digital camera every time they press the shutter button.

  • Another must for your reference library.

There are some books that one must have in a photographer's library. This is one. Laugh along as Scott Kelby explains his way through different lighting situations in a way that you will keep in your memory for future reference. It would be difficult not to pick up useful techniques for all types of situations. I have his full collection of Digital Photography books and I very rarely loan them out. Perhaps that is not nice, but my library is not perfect without Scott's books.

  • Great resource to get started and elevate your skill!

Scott Kelby's awesome approach to teaching techniques gets you moving forward with your photography skill-building. Learning is a process, and this book is a great enhancement to Scott's three previous books. Highly Recommended!

  • Save money buying used books

The subject matter is compelling, and this book completes my collection of these books. Since I already own parts 1, 2, and 3 in the series, I purchased part 4. The only annoying thing was that someone wrote notes in the book and underlined it as if it were a textbook.

  • Good book, but not as good as books 1 through3.

good book but several items are covered in books 1 to 3. Still worth the read.
