  • My point of view...

Great system with some room for improvement! Stable, fast, and portable. The one I got just needs a bit of use to get the "new worn off" I hope. The other reviews I have read all mention the leg lubrication as being slightly problematic, mine is dry as a bone, and feels a bit gritty, so I may try some teflon spray or graphite "lubrication" The center post on mine is just not up to what I expected for a Manfrotto product. I just would hope that other mtgs will catch on and make this style better by competition. I like its 4 position leg spread, the push button collapse of the legs versus the brush snagging, cold finger frustrating flip clips, and twist tighteners that always seem to make the next leg up turn as well so you play with the connectors a lot before you set your camera on it. And , I have to wonder , When are people going to learn that if you put a lever (center post) on a tripod you reduce its stability, the longer the lever gets! Increase the maximum height with another leg section and its compactness by shortening each section just a bit. . The stock carry handle is great as car as it goes but could use the addition of a shoulder sling with a front buckle release. Well, there is my opinion, hope it sparks some thoughts and even a reply or two.

  • Your missing out.

All tripods should have this type of mechanism on the legs. I can not use a regular tripod any longer. I have 2 of these and I hate using a regular tripod.

  • Manfrotto 458B Neotec Tripod legs.

I did a fair amount of research before purchasing. I was looking for a way to speed up my setup and work flow time. Constantly fiddling around with flip clamps, twist clamps, etc.... and found the Manfrotto 458B Neotec speeded up my work flow tremendously. Ingenious design!! Just don't grab the center parts of the legs, they have a light lubricant on them. You need to grab the silver rings parts where the sections meet to pull out the legs. It quickly becomes second nature. I use it mainly for fast studio work, photographing products for eBay. For those purposes it has been a dream!! It's sturdy, well built, seems like it will last!
