For a typical user, this isn't the modem you want. On the other hand, if you are some sort of developer, this could be of some use to you. Personally, I use it to troubleshoot on my families own ISP. With the features available, it is much better than the ones supplied by our modem manufactures. Overall it should only be bought by people who are in the COAX & ISP development community.

The modem works, but arrived with the wrong MAC address (the sticker on the base doesn't correspond to the modem). I had to ping the modem via a wireless router to find the correct MAC address in the modem's GUI, and then give this to the cable company, which delayed getting online by about a week. Which was a bit of a pain. If someone didn't know how to do this they would basically be buying a brick.

This modem is excepted by all the major internet service providers, or to be even more precise, they are pushing these modems that are Docsis 3.0. They process information faster than the Docsis 2.0 and less, by approximately 4-6 times. This keeps their service running faster and you are using less bandwidth. I have looked over the lists of modems that are on there way out to the excepted and then the preferred. They are all the Docsis 3.0 and the ones on the list, as on their way out are all the others. So not only do you get a modem that processes data faster, but you are in the beginning of a modem's requirement with ISPs in the future. There are not a lot of choices that are Docsis 3.0 and accepted by all the major ISPs yet, as the Motorola's are. It is not all positive either. A negative is they are on the expensive side, all the SB and SBG of Motorola are Docsis 3.0, and they all do come at a premium price. If you are not in the market for a new modem, you may want to wait for prices to come down, if you need a modem now, definitely look at the Motorola's SB6120 and SB6121 if it's just a modem you are wanting. What ever your decision, make sure it's a Docsis 3.0 and runs on your internet service provider.Read full review
Easy to set up with Time Warner Cable. It provides much more speed than I am using at this time. My media centers' performances have improved.

This modem works fine. Once I called Comcast to have them switch service from my previous modem, it logged in and has worked for the past three weeks without any problems. I purchased this to replace the rental that I had been paying Comcast $7 per month. I don't notice any difference in speed from the RCA modem it replaced but I am satisfied that it works fine without problems and I have not seen it lose connection since I've had it on. I also downloaded a 3.3gb file and it downloaded fine.
