I bought this driver for two seperate reasons. One is I have owned a Cobra driver before. Two I bought my original Cobra Driver because my game was really starting to suffer, just as it is now. I bought the Cobra S3 Max Driver with an 11.5 degree face, and the Blur shaft with senior flex. I am 69 years old and I've finally had to admit that I don't finish my swing with my belt buckle facing the target like I used to, which tends to make me hit most of drives to the right, even though I don't slice the ball. With my new Cobra S3 my draw is back and I leave most of my drives in the right center of the fairway. I tried some other new drivers with 10.5 and 11.5 degree heads, including some with adjustable heads and I lost too much yardage. With the S3 I'm not loosing that yardage. I have more confidence in the Cobra S3 so that I am now taking a much better swing at the ball, with a lot of improvement in my game. My handicap before the S3 was up to 18, but I am sure it will improve this spring and summer. I really like the S3 and am glad I deceided to go back to a Cobra Product. I would recommend the S3 to anyone in my age group because I love it.Read full review
I am a golfer of 35 years experience, currently playing of 16. I have always sliced , on a good day call it a fade. When looking for a new driver, I Googled "best driver for mid handicapper who slices", several responses but the S3 Max stood out. On purchasing the club I could not be happier. I opted for the regular shaft, and whilst no club can cure a slice completely, any type of OK swing the ball goes pretty much where aimed. Put a shocking swing on it and it still goes aray. Distance wise, it is similair to other drivers I have used, however that is probably more the player than the club. Love the club and could not recommend it high enough.
After reading constant reviews on different drivers, I choose the cobra S3 MAX because it had the qualities that were close to the driver that I had made through an on line vender. I'm 65 and not long at all but I can hit it 200. With the S3 max I can now do 230+ STRAIGHT. The offset head and T006 Blur regular shaft suit my swing style. I have 5 different drivers. The 3 that have offset heads are the only ones that I can hit straight or with a slight fade consistently. But I wouldn't trade my cobra for anything. What a fantastic product.
Starting golf at age 64 was challenge enough. Couple that with rheumatoid arthritis from age 45, this presented two minor obstacles for golf. With strong encouragement from friends I purchased a set of used King Cobra clubs, and began playing daily with advice from all, all I played with. Nine months later with constant study, tryouts of various club brand and types, it became clear Cobra had me in mind when designing this club. My game is 10 strokes better with the complete set of S3MAX/Hybrids. The driver gives me added distance even with a slow swing speed. Thank you Cobra, you will have my loyalty for life.Tracy
I purchased this driver because my current driver, also a Cobra, was about 10 years old. Since I was also 10 years older I felt that a newer driver with a higher loft and a more flexible shaft would add distance to my drives. I am very pleased with my selection. I'm hitting the ball longer and straighter, although there is plenty of room for improvement and my part. The offset of this driver also helps prevent slicing which I had started to do with some regularity. I have tried drivers by other manufacturers over the past couple of years, but have not found any that I like as well as the Cobra.
I had decided to purchase a new set of clubs for wife. I purchased Cobra irons from a local retailer & now was looking for a driver to compliment the set. The retailer had the Cobra S-3 Max driver, but the retail price was over $200. I wasn't so sure about spending that much for the driver since she really doesn't play that often. I thought that i would check EBay to see if I might get a little bit of a discount. We'll as it turned out the club was last years model & was discounted over $100. I am totaly satisfied with my purchase. The Cobra S3 Max is a very good club & will be in her bag for years to come. I also might mention that two of her girlfriends tried it out on the course & was so impressed that they both bought the same club. I personally feel that the copbra S3 Max is one of the best clubs out there today for the recreational player. You can easily pay way more for a competitors brand, but you will not get get anymore than what the Cobra S3 offers. I need to mention that i play the Cobra S3 mens clubs.Read full review
Got exactly what I expected - quality is top-notch, it looks good, feels good, and delivers long, straight drives when I do my part. May not be the best for low handicappers, but with a 15 handicap it fits my game perfectly. I have the S3Max 3-wood, and hit it about 230 yds. It feels solid, and gets me in the fairway 80% of the time. This driver hits and feels just as good, and I added 30 yds over my 3-wood. Yes, it does have a little more metallic sound than the 3-wood, but not obnoxious like some of the older Cobras. This is an excellent choice for a beginner, casual weekender, or mid-handicapper who is fighting a slice. The offset and draw bias resulted in long, straight drives, and about 70% fairways hit. My fairway misses are usually left, and still playable. Just tee it high, and rip it down the right half, no problems! No club can fix a bad swing or a bad grip, but if I do my part, this club delivers exactly as I expect.Read full review
I have an older model Cobra 10.5 degree and wanted to go back down to the 9.5 so I didn't lose so much distance as I have with age. I have hit the new club as far as 280 yards, further than with the old driver, but wish I had gotten the flex shaft instead of the stiff. As long as I don't over swing, I hit this club really well but, unlike my older club, it's easier to slice with this one. Depending on age, I'm 61, I really would recommend the flex shaft but this is a great driver and would buy it again.
I purchased this club as an expirament. Knowing that I had to make an adjustment in my game from the tee box, but not knowing exactly what to do, I purchased this club, used. I went from a regular shaft to a stiff shaft and reduced the loft from 10.5 to 9.5. It was the answer I was looking for. I now hit the fairways regularly and added twenty yards from the tee. The club feels very solid in my hands and provides a great response. I am now searching for a matching three metal.
Gone is the sound I have gotten used to. A more solid sounding golf club. What remains though is the forgiveness and distance that I have also gotten used to. I also like the newer aerodynamic look, sleeker and with sharper "flight lines." I think they could have put a better model of Fujikura shaft than the Blur. A few dollars more here could make a big differance. Over all I still give it 5 out of 5.
