The tripod has normal signs of wear. It appears to show corrosion on some screws. I removed some sea sand, so I think it was stored somewhere near the ocean, which is why it has rust. All the locks open and close. To enlarge, they're just a little stiff. It's not broken, has no dented marks, and no quick release included. The tripod is still functional; it just shows those signs of wear. It's not unbalanced. See the photos for reference. If you have any questions, please inbox me.

About this product

Product Information

The Davis & Sanford ProVista 7518 is a lightweight tripod that you can carry to different locations easily. Its carbon fiber design weighs just 12 pounds, its legs fold into a compact design, and it includes a carry bag for effortless transportation. It is equally easy to use when you take it on the field. Its design features double struts in the leg post sections to provide plenty of support and stability for heavier cameras. Rubber feet on each leg keep the tripod from slipping while it is in use. The Davis & Sanford ProVista 7518 can reach a maximum height of 64 inches and a minimum height of 31 inches, which provides flexibility for a variety of shooting situations. Like many Davis & Sanford tripods, the ProVista 7518 often comes equipped with a Davis & Sanford FM18 fluid head. This compact video head can accommodate larger video cameras of up to 18 pounds. A pan bar lets you pan the camera to capture movement in your videos smoothly. It includes a quick release plate to lock in easily and release the head from its support. Its 75mm claw ball can support weight and offers easy tilting for your camera. This FM18 fluid head includes 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch mounting screws, making it compatible with photo and video camera brands, such as Nikon, Canon, and Sony. Some sellers may offer tripods without heads or choose to use your own choice of head. The ProVista 7518 features a 3/8-inch mounting screw, which is compatible with almost any standard head and does not usually require an adapter. Use the quick release plate to slide the head on and off the tripod easily. Add a camcorder or digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera to the head, look through the lens, search for the right placement, and adjust your frame. Set up any remaining accessories, such as external lenses and lighting. Just remove the camera and head. Close the legs and use the releases on each of the posts to shorten them. The tripod and its bag are easy to store in your gear closet or studio.

Great tripod for the photographer that has to have stability.

Stability outside in the wind and such requires a heavy tripod and this one delivers. It is advertised as a video tripod and it is great for video but it is also capable if you're taking portraits in the studio, just turn the quick-mount plate sideways on your camera. I am very happy with this investment.

    Not well suited for DSLR

This is a nice tripod for the money however it is probably better suited for those seeking to use with a larger video camera and not a DSLR for still photography only. My bad. I had to fabricate a spacer to raise the camera high enough to be able to tighten the quick release clamping screw. The screws have lever type knobs that hit the camera or the two handles used to repostion the head. The spacer and removal of one of the handles make it just usable for my needs. I have since purchased a ball head tripod that is much handier.

  • Great tripod for a low price

Gives great stability for video. Head is fluid with soft, consistent movement both sideways and up-down. Yes it's heavy and a little on the bulky side. But that's the only way if you want a firm, sturdy tripod. The price is great for the quality. You'll have to triple your budget if you want something better.

  • Pretty Good Tripod

There are a couple issues I've noticed with this tripod: 1. Some of the knobs can get blocked by the camera or other parts of the tripod head. You can pull the knob out to change its position, but it is a little annoying. 2. The head is a little tight, even at it's loosest setting - to the point that the legs will lift a bit if you try to pan too fast. But if you're careful, it gets buttery smooth pans and tilts so I'm not complaining too much.

  • Solid, but heavy tripod

I use this tripod both for studio work and outdoor photography using a 500mm telephoto lens. This is a very stable tripod and one you can count on not to move even in difficult situtations, however it is heavy so plan accordingly. The travel case is quite useful and exceptionally sturdy so this makes transporting the tripod that much easier. Also I found I needed to shorten the 1/4-20 screw in order to tighten down the lens and/or camera body. Rather than cutting it, I chose to simply buy shorter ones online and that fixed the problem.

  • Strong construction

Strong construction, excellent leg adjustments and very good overall height. The supplied video head a little stiff but very smooth. I consider it excellent value for money and much stronger than my Manfrotto Gruppo it replaces. I have recommended to a friend who has already bought.

  • Heavy duty, smooth, great

This is not meant to be light weight or something you would carry around like on a back pack, but it great for it's purpose, a heavy duty, stable, smooth tripod that will likely last forever. Did I mention it is smooth and stable? Great purchase.

  • Great Tripod, Great Value.

Great Tripod Great Price, Holds my 16mm Bolex, with Zoom and motor no problem. The legs are metal which is an improvement over my Manfrotto Carbon Fiber. More secure. And it's light, easy to carry. The ball makes levelling quick and easy, so far I really like it.

  • WAY better than expected

I thought that I was just getting a cheap tripod that I hoped would be "adequate". I'm very impressed with it. For the money you will not do better. I've been in the business for 25 years. You'll be very impressed also.

  • Very nice and reliable.

I am very pleased with it so far. The flow of the fluid head vertically and horizontally are smooth with no glitches. Although this item came with no platter (quick release plate) Another thing I like about it is it is very tall.
