Fabulous tripod; solid, light, and smooth.
Bogen is the king of normal tripods. They make many aluminum units that can support all sorts of camera payloads, including larger, heavier rigs. You can also use them with a spotting scope. I have three different Bogen tripods and they are all good. Just make sure you use them for the proper payload. This particular tripod can carry a heavy, 8x10 large format camera with ease. I have never had any issues with it. The fluid head can be used with your DSLR or camcorder to shoot smooth video. Can't say enough good things about it. Great Poduct
I currently own about ten of these with different heads. Unbelievable prices on EBAY. The first one of these I bought new 20 years ago. It cost about $1,000. The rest I bought used at less than $200 each. Whether you are shooting still or HD video, these are excellent. Also very stable and spare parts are available. Excellent professional tripod
The tripod in black is known as the 028B AND 3246. In silver the 028 and 3046. Since 1997 they have had three leg sections, earlier ones had only two leg sections. Standing at 8 feet tall it is perfect as an unmanned camera tripod. It also is perfect for a main camera. Very sturdy with its built in mid level spreader. The geared center column adds 2 feet of height and is so smooth you can be rolling footage as you raise or lower it. Strong, light, reliable and versatile. I love this tripod. Not incredibly compact, but I wasn't looking for compact when I bought it. I decided to acquire this particular tripod at the recommendation of real estate photographer Rich Baum.
