I'm not very happy with unit. It will not play Blu-Ray format. I try to update the software, it downloads fine, but when I try to install it, it freezes. I had the same model before, worked great for 15 years before it gave out. I was told this one works, it does on dvd, just won't play Blu-Ray.

Pros: - Plays HD .mkv files at full 1080p definition perfectly fine off of a 2TB WD Hard Drive. (I have tried over 15 different movies and shows so far and there have been ZERO codec/compatibility issues) - DVD up-scaling makes an INCREDIBLY noticeable improvement on video quality. (Only works for actual DVDs, no improvement for regular definition .avi or .mkv files) - Easy to navigate interface. Cons: - Does not have the high-end applications (Netflix, Amazon VoD, etc.) of it's higher-end counterparts. - Limited on ports in back. (However, 1 HDMI port is perfect for my needs) - Online firmware updating is very buggy. Other: - Streaming from a 54 Mbps Wireless-G network slows an HD movie slightly (becomes laggy), but that could just be the limitations of the network. Overall, a great addition to my small home entertainment center for the price!Read full review
LG BD530 proved himself a very capable among equally aggressive variants of Panasonic, Sony, and Samsung. I am pleasantly surprised by the number of pleasant and useful features of this device and its main characteristics - a true representation of the progress. BD530 very light and not of the form player, whose content was made for life. Nevertheless, its front panel is surprisingly attractive, and its curved edges remind me of some of his predecessors. This neon green LED display is limited, and may have been built of a gigantic clock Timex, but it all looks a bit better than it actually is. 530 has a front panel USB port hidden rubber flap on the right side, which I will, as one of the strongest features of the device for users less concerned with copyright laws, and especially related to digital media. Initial setup LG BD530 is very similar to 550/570/590 with a light gray background circularly fading to white with the initial setup offers desktop, movies, music, photos and Internet versions. Settings menu reveals a submenu Setting video options resolution, refresh rate, color, and aspect ratio (it coincides with each sub-menu of LG BD300 to the current 590. Option Customization allows for manual settings, contrast, sharpness, color and brightness. I do not it was time for repeated testing of each preset, but the "user" seems to be the most accurate, despite the image, which weighs a little black and seem to have a little over-blown Unlike common for LG player. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly LG have advanced in the relationship load times compared to just a few years ago. The speed with which loads 530 seemed a bit faster than the 550/570/590 that use the chip Broadcom - it piqued my curiosity, that we might be dealing with something else. As soon as I started to weave synthetic benchmark tests, I realized very quickly that 530, most likely uses the Mediatek chip as JVC XV BP1 and Oppo players. Actual performance DVD is very good - almost identical to Yamaha BDS-667, but not yet on par with the Oppo BDP-80. I would not recommend this player for people with very large displays, but I see almost identical picture quality with this player, as Yamaha BDS-667 for my 54 "G20 plasma. As mentioned earlier, the USB port is a little Pandora's box for many digital formats, media player similar to JVC XV-BP1 as well. MKV files. This player has a limited connection to the Internet in a format Picassa, WeatherChannel, and Youtube. Frankly, I think most of them are relatively useless, and it would be nice to have more meaningful online content, such as Netflix, Pandora, and the Vudu and Amazon Video On Demand. On the other hand, the $ 65 price does not offer much profit, when you have to pay R & D and licensing costs. In general, this player is a pleasant surprise and is priced at $ 70, even though as a backup player who can really surprise you. This is the perfect player with a decent quality DVD, very fast loading.Read full review
Name brands become name brands cause they prove themselves day in day out. Hence name brands like LG, Sony, Samsung have become a part of our video electronic world. Obviously they manufacture a wide variety of qualities. We use our high end Sony in our family room, but couldn't play our BluRay movies in the other rooms having only standard DVD players in them even an upgrade conversion model in another but BluRays were restricted to the family room. Now with my new LG BluRay BD530 (less than $70) we can watch our BluRays in the other room too. Thank you LG for the money saving BluRay player, works perfectly.
