  • Mamiya/Sekor 1000 DTL

Good quality manual 35mm camera. Inexpensive lens' can be bought and other standard accessories still work. Key is getting a used one that still has the meter working. Most repair shops cannot fix as parts are no longer available:( It is 40+ years old!

  • 1000 DTL - tank-like classic that works well if sorted out

What is engaging about these vintage 1000 DTL cameras, is that when one is sorted out, they are a great value. They are the definition of tank-like. The M42 lens mount will let you mount many different lenses, although Pentax screw mount lenses won't as there is a lug on the back making it not possible. I bought mine to use with the 50mm lens and maybe a 28 and 200 to round out this vintage 1970 kit. Anyone buying one of these really should buy a seals kit. I would also search on youtube where owners have great tutorials on doing minor adjustments and repairs on the camera.

  • Parts Needed

I needed the locking plate off of the film door for my old Mamiya. But I may try and see if the purchased one will work. But, I still will use the door lock on mine. I want to go back to the Ole photo way for awhile and see if I can rejuvenate my manual skills. Have had this camera for over 48 years. The one sent show wear, but seems that everything works in it. So I may have two.

  • These camera still take great pictures!

This camera uses the M-42 (screw mount) lens mount, equals a lot of used lens out there. With no bells and whistles these cameras are good to learn with.

  • Back in Time

This just refurbished example from the late 60's is exactly like my first SLR. Big feature on these was choice of averaging or 15 degree spot metering. Built like a tank. Heavy as possible. But lovely in it's own way. I'm keeping it forever. Which reminds me to shoot the two remaining frames of Portra and send it off to the lab! Heaven.

  • Nice example

I have a Mamiya 800 lens that I want to use for astronomy. I needed a camera body that fit the lens. This camera does the job and was inexpensive. Also, the body itself is in very good condition and would probably take good pictures.

  • needed some tuning

after having the camera checked at a Mamiya store the camera works beautifully. One of the best portrait cameras ever made; it was a steal.
