    Short debrief

At stock speeds and voltage with 95TDP rated air cooler core temperature delta over ambient 30-32'C @ various burnin tests. As a used product it has no obvious performance or thermal problems at stock settings. I have no current clamps, so power draw @ 12V CPU rail is unknown. Assembled with ASUS m3a h/hdmi. due MB weak 4+1 phase VRM design and weak air cooler OC is light only 9% with +100mV raise to get stable system. that results temperature increase in idle ~10'C, load ~7'C and burn in stress tests ~5'C. and peak core temperature reaches 61'C @ ~24'C ambient. used software: Win7 64bit OS; HWinfo, Prime95, Furmark, AIDA64 bios 2101 thermal compound beQuiet DC1

  • After using for a week.

Apparently I bought a wrong model CPU for my Asus M2N68-AM Plus mobo, it still works but I have to manually press F1 in order to boot into Windows, I paired this CPU with Cooler Master Hyper 410R cooler sink and its around 53c to 57c in most operating temperature in my tropical climate here, this CPU is not listed in Asus M2N68-AM Plus manual so you have to check and avoid same mistake I have done but then I will buy another AM3 mobo to built another PC with this CPU once I order another suitable and manual listed CPU for my current PC then.

  • Good old AM3 CPU, easy overclock

Easy overclock to 4Ghz or above but you need a good cooler (temps are over 75+(C) on full load). Old but very good AM3 CPU, also you can install it even on AM2+ motherboards. Phemon II X4 955 is great for any old AMD PC.

  • Nice little cpu

Nice budget quad core. Runs pretty well even for older hardware. Often will work with AM3 or AM2+ motherboards so you have a greater range of motherboards it will work with. Runs a little hotter than newer cpus due to the larger die size so it does require a pretty beefy cooler to keep it cool. Bought this for a mini itx build I intend to sell and in testing I've been quite happy with it's performance.

  • Good choice

Always been one of the best processors. Got it for real time processing, it is 100% for that even though it is older it still competes well. Real time processing is faster that I even expected. Only drawback consumes more power being older than more expensive later types. Price being as low as it was, it is a good choice.

  • An easy low cost performance upgrade

This was an easy drop-in upgrade for my aging AMD Phenom II X2 500 processor. I didn't have to make any other changes to the system at all. I swapped out the processor and the PC fired right up. Definitely noticed the speed improvement right away as well.

  • Good Performance for the Age

AMD's new AM3+ Socket keeping backward compatibility with their older CPU's is pretty awesome. These x4 Black Edition still pack a punch but are sadly coming to the end of their life Once the New Zen comes out with AM4 and DDR4 support later in 2016.

  • AMD Phenom II X4 955

This CPU is Amazing! 970-980 was on my mind. but, Sky High Prices by those who want to make $Money$ of you was discouraging. Glad I made the RIGHT Choice with this CPU! Great Performance!

  • Arrived quickly and works as expected

I upgraded my son's computer from an AMD triple core 8750 Black Edition to this AMD Phenom II X4 955 and it was a substantial upgrade. It's not bleeding edge by any measure but it certainly getting the job done. It arrived quickly and was easy to install.
