The game is very limited in it's capacity. Don't get me wrong, for a GBA game it looks beautiful. The game uses a multi-layered backgrounds to give the game a 3D feel(remember clayfighters for snes?). Unfortunately, it feels as if the developers put more focus on the backgrounds than the actual tracks. 2-D obstacles crawl toward you frame by frame making it hard to judge where they actually sit in the game environment. Many times I'd think myself past a tree branch only to fall over it again. Furthermore, the controls are awkward. How on earth does this make any sense when you only have four buttons? The up/down feels too sensitive and the left/right not sensitive enough. The tricks are easy enough to land but whenever you attempt one your character grinds to a halt (10 mph mid jump off of a ramp?) so that the other boarders fly right by you. The sound is better than most GBA titles which is nice. You almost forget that you're listening to midi. But Sound and aesthetics alone cannot carry the burden of awful game play. 2/5Read full review
SSX Tricky for GBA can be easy enough for my 5 year old, yet also challenging for adults. It will appeal to girls because you can change the snowboarders outfits and boards. It has speed and some mean-guy shoving and racing that will have the boys happy. This is an all-around great game that should be in any GBA library !
i like that it occupies me, becuz my son wanted the game 4 his ps2 and gameboy micro. my son loves this game thanks so much
