Replace the boots and save some money!
Why replace expensive ball joints simply to replace a dust boot? I recently did maintenance on my truck and tore the boots. The tie rods weren't contaminated with dirt or water, and simply needed new boots. The pair of these were less than the cost of a single tie rod end!
