Rise of Nightmares is a Kinect-enabled horror-adventure, intended for the most strong-stomached of grown-up gamers. From a gratuitously gory first-person perspective, players proceed through the zombie-infested mansion of a homicidal mad scientist. In the role of a hapless American tourist, desperate to save his kidnapped wife, players must resort to physical combat to stave off undead assaults, swinging their arms and legs in view of the Kinect sensors in order to pummel away the encroaching onscreen ghouls.<br><br>Wielding brass knuckles, hatchets, and chainsaws, players can master the game's different fighting styles to achieve gruesomely damaging special moves and combo attacks. As the hero battles desperately through one gothic corridor to the next, dismembered limbs, spilled guts, and splatters of crimson slop across the floors, walls, and ceilings. When not busy fighting off swarms of mindless attackers, players are free to move around and explore the house. Stealth sequences also play a role in completing the adventure, as does macabre puzzle-solving. AWESOME SINGLE PLAYER KINECT GAME!!
This is a great product for any Xbox 360 kinect fan who is also looking for horror. You walk through zombie infested areas while slicing and beating foes into submission. You walk by leaning forward or backward (or raising right arm), turn with shoulders, use your hand/hands to interact with objects (opening doors, grabbing weapons, etc.), punch with fists, kick with either foot, throw items with hands, or beat zombies down with weapons(using hands). It has a decent story line that will keep you pushing towards the end!! There are various zombies and bad guys to keep horror fans locked in! Expect blood and gore!! This is a game that could get repetitive after a while but it is a great deal! I personally think this is a game I will revisit for years to come.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

rise of nightmares - walking slasher gore
Game play is fun if you like lots of slasher gore without strategy. The kinect interface is a bit wobbly, but is unique and interesting as well. In the beginning I got stuck on simple things which was frustrating. After awhile one gets use to game play and things improve somewhat. If you have a really fast xbox this game would be better. Waiting for the kinect hand to appear and wobble around to choose an icon can be tiresome. As a good point, the game seems to work almost all the way in the dark, which makes a scary game more fun. To play you sort of wander about and slash at monsters that jump out. Or go into rooms and slash at monsters in there. You can kick at them too. This game is a good try for what it is.
