I bought this because i broke one i owned previosly and i was in love with that one. But when i got this one, i did not realize the picture was as small as it was. I had not remembered it being that small. Did not reflect on the quality of the tv though. Is good quality. I did return this tv however because of the picture size and because i was not receiving as many channels as i wanted through my antenna connection

The "ups": Compact, light & portable. LED upon leading-edge of unit displays a red glow while charging, which goes when charging is completed, allowing you to know when it's ready to deliver a full 3-hours of service. Cord for use whist powered via 12VDC source--automotive "Cigar-lighter" socket--included, so one isn't left in a lurch if 120VAC service is not available. A clear picture... once you get the screen's vertical-angle right for your viewing. F-terminal/coax external antenna input, allowing any choice of outside source--Cable, Satellite or game console--to be viewed upon it. What desired functions that aren't immediate to the unit's controls are on the remote. Headphone jack... along with 2-channel stereo A/V-output, which is compatible with 3-element conductor 1/8"(3.5mm)-plug for using external speakers with it. Tuner's search function allows manual or automatic channel search... As well as choice of air-wave or cable broadcast tuning, like a modern home console. Progressive-scan DVD/CD-player video/audio synching is amazing! It does well playing most DVDs... Even ones computer-burned from "clunky" file-sources that have been converted! The "downs": 7" screen rather small for viewing by group larger than a few people... And that's if they're gathered rather close-together. Antenna input only allows for digital signals... So older, analog signal (NTSC) components--VCRs & pre-2000's game-consoles--are incompatible. Audio produced by built-in speakers--depending on program--becomes lackluster at higher volumes. Would recommend using external "sound-bar" device w/built-in volume-control for better, more pleasing sound reproduction. Most supporting functions--screen-size, setup & disc-menu functions--relegated to the remote, so if you lose that.... Included antenna is a joke. Barely receives any signals... and when it does, most of them are on the weak side. Would highly recommend using a typical "set-top" external antenna, albeit amplified or not, when using it's TV-tuner. Is 3-hour battery life is rather short... And can be even shorter than that, depending on what-all you do with it. Would recommend charging unit fully after watching even one DVD of average-length running-time, just to keep from being caught "Off-guard" & to maintain the battery's total service-life.Read full review
good item. performs well. be prepared for its small size. excellent loud audio, excellent picture. tv reception good with outside or amplified indoor antenna, not one that comes with it. good preperation for power outages because of battery or car operation. dont depend on antenna that comes with it unless you live next to tv station..almost looks like a joke..very tiny. like the product, would recommend to someone. depends on your need and what you want to use it for as to if you would be happy with it. i use it as back up tv and viewing dvds in bed.
I bought this because I wanted a portable DVD HDTV unit. It is a great item -- compact, easy to use, clear pictures, good sound. Only problem is that I live in an area where TV reception is poor, so until I can get it plugged into my cable system my choice of TV programs is limited. But that is okay -- It is still a nice unit.
Very solid unit for the price. I can play movies from many different things (cell, tv, PC, etc). What I really wanted to use this for were the TV capabilities. It is very simple to setup and with the built-in battery, you dont even need a power source. Reception is okay, but I didnt expect to get a ton of channels from a small antenna. It does allow you to hook it up to cable or a larger antenna though, which is nice. It does still pickup some local channcels with the built-in antenna. It depends on the weather, walls, and other blockers. Overall a very solid unit for the price.
I was looking for a replacement, my Philips like this lost the picture tube. This fit the bill, did not receive the remote or antenna but I had both from mine so all is good. I was able to scan and go using my remote. I am happy this worked out.. Received it fast, price was good!

Great battery life for such an older unit. Also having the he antenna turns it into a digital tv.

I bought this DVD player for it's portability and because I own a lot of Philips products of which have perfomed well for their price. It replaces a previous similar product whose brand name begins with an "S" and ends with a "Y" and rymes with PHONY of which I have never gotten a few months of productivity out of before they get tossed. This model Philips has a great picture and sound is good but I was also impressed with the built in T.V. with accompanying antenna which if you are in an area with a strong signal comes in crystal clear. If I were to give a dislike it would be that the sound control is not available on the remote control which is not a real big deal considering you are only watching it from three feet away. Well worth the Benny Franklin it cost to purchase it!!
I needed a replacement for my dad and was so glad to find this. It is just like his worn out machine, and it works like new! Very happy!!
