I would like to have given this 5 stars but downgraded because the threads needed some work to be usable. The problem is that the cutting of the threads left a sharp, ragged edge at the tip of the outlet side that I needed to file down before it would thread properly onto my hose. Valterra needs to ensure that the product is inspected for thread quality before accepting it from the manufacturer.
I had been using a different brand brass pressure regulator. There is a significant difference with this regulator. I have not had an opportunity to try it on an extended trip yet, but used it for filling my fresh water tank and de-winterizing my camping trailer. It appears to work well. I do have a concern with the plastic part for gripping to tighten it on the faucet. My old one had two tabs that made it easier to grip with arthritic hands. The plastic is not as good in this respect. The tabs were part of the brass and not a separate part pressed on. I hope that the plastic part will not become brittle and break with time. I do like that this is stainless steel and that there is no need to be concerned about lead leaching from it. That is one of the main reasons I purchased this item instead of the brass version.
The stainless steel model is less prone to water scale build-up then then brass model....though soaking either one in vinegar or CLR will usually desolve any hard water deposits or scaling.
