This is "bubblegum" music at it's finest. A happenin' family band from the late 60's and early 70's, that got it's start in the Newport, R.I. area, playing for school dances and church events. They became the inspiration for the TV show "The Partridge Family". As the band developed, their Mom joined the group as well as their youngest brother and sister. Their big hits are on this CD and if you enjoyed their music then, you will enjoy this CD now.
I found except for the Top 40 tunes such as Indian Lake , Hair, ect. the original material penned by the members of the group was weak at best. I listened to half of the CD and turned it off.As I said the original material by the group sounded the same from track to track. I will say though, they had great harmonies for a group.. I also don't think the group themselves had anything to do with the selection that was placed on the CD. Have recently heard there stuff on You Tube as early as 2009, and it sounded better.. Also the price was right for this compliation.

I was familiar with "The Rain, the Park & Other Things" (#2) and "Indian Lake" (#10), but the song that caught my attention long ago was "Hair" (#2). Why? I was serving the army in 1969 and the song hit me hard not only because I was forced into a crewcut but also because the song is just amusing and goofy and made me feel good. Still does. And yes, when my time was served, I grew my hair. Long. Unfortunately, aside from the songs previously mentioned, the CD offers zero that makes my toes tap—and a number of those songs made the top 100. Others may find the band's bubblegum more attractive than I did. Moving on. No text or liner notes.
