High-end set at very reasonable price!
I love all Faber Castell products from the red-box pencils marketed to children to the high-end Polychromos pencils. it was a no-brainer for me to give these Black-edition pencils a try as well. Just as I had expected, they are absolutely wonderful. They are more reasonably priced than the Polychromos pencils, and have a smaller selection of colors. However, they are super smooth soft lead higher-end pencils than the F/C Classic pencils in the red boxes. These blend beautifully and have very bold pigment like the Polychromos. They color super smoothly and the coverage with just one layer is much, much better than Prismacolor Premier pencils. They sharpen nicely too. I used a small plastic hand-held sharpener that looks like a cheap child's sort of pencil sharpener except the blades are made in Germany so it does a great job. This set of pencils is wax-based and I was able to erase small mistakes with a Crayola colored pencil eraser. I can't say enough good things about this Black-Edition set but if you are looking to buy a nice set of soft core pencils with a great color range and the Faber Castell quality, this set will meet your needs and not disappoint.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
