Better version
It's a stagger stack type and not a rotary and feeds very well. The only problem I had was it won't handle 4 rounds I could only get 3 in it. Loads and unloads from the rifle very easily. I gave it only 4 stars for that reason.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Poor design cheap plastic magazine with poor quality feed spring.
Ruger needs a better feed spring in this magazine. The original that came with gun quit working after I left 4 shells in it for a period of about 6 months. Now it will only feed the 2 top shells. The 2 bottom shells won't come high enough for the bolt to feed. I had to order a replacement. Also with the design of this very thin cheap plastic magazine. You can not dissemble it to stretch the spring back out. It's pretty poorly designed and probably the biggest piece of crap I personally have ever seen Ruger design . They also need to make a 10 round magazine for this Ruger American Preditor . I use it to pig hunt and dam need got gored when I got with in 50 yards of a group of 15 pigs and started shooting. The gun didn't feed the bottom 2 shells. I never would have expected this sorry design from Ruger. DavidVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

This magazine works better than the original magazine!
This magazine feeds the shells perfectly into the .308 ruger American. I carefully loaded the magazine and had a feed problem with the first 2 mag loads. Just be careful and don’t force anything. I freed up the shells then I reloaded mag the third time and all shells loaded into chamber flawlessly. I’m so happy with these plastic mags! They are light weight and easy to use. I just purchased another one from them and you should too. This magazine plate is a flat plastic and the spring works great. It is different than the one that comes with the gun but works way better! They work.
I bought three of these for a practical rifle course I took. I put over 500 rds through the rifle in three days, constantly reloading these mags on the move. They did not fail to feed. They easily clipped into the rifle and removal was also a non issue. I dropped them in dirt and stones and they didn’t clog up or generate any issues in fit or feed. I know some people on here kvetched about these being made from plastic. Yep. They are. So was the one that came from the factory with my rifle. Guess what? They didn’t give me any trouble, just like the one that came with my rifle. My only regret? I should have bought two more. It works but has Issues.
Form fit and function is good. However this is a total redesign of the original rotary magazine that came with the rifle. This magazine uses the old flat spring technology. It is much more difficult to load the magazine or add additional rounds while installed in the rifle due to much thicker lips at the top of the magazine. Cartridges loaded to the standard 2.800" just barely fit. This was not product improvement!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Ruger American Magazine
Having read some complaints about these mags misfeeding rounds I tried these out immediately upon receipt. Loaded some Remington Core-Lokt .308 and cycled the bolt clearing the mag of all four rounds with no issues whatsoever. The same for the second mag. Would have no problem recommending these mags or the Ruger American rifle which has proven to be a reliable and accurate deer rifle for a relatively inexpensive weapon.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Works like it should
There’s a lot of people saying this is cheap and made of plastic-well, its for a rifle that’s built to be compact 🤷♀️ it only makes sense that it’s plastic! However, it’s not cheap plastic bs! It’s a well designed magazine that works just like metal but only better! I’ve tested these and they hold up in the field. I had a spare in my pocket and it fit nicely there. The feeder was flawless and smoother than my partner’s regular 243 standard magazine.
