Dremel 4000
Best dremel out there. I have several different Dremel’s including battery operated. the battery operated dremel is convenient but the batteries do not last and shuts off Dremel constantly. This is the smoothest and most powerful Dremel that they have for the price about $75 without attachments it is a steal. Also if you are using dremel‘s model 220 drill press, the power of this tool is what you want. All I do is metal and aluminum this Dremel does quite a lot of my work although I do use a quarter inch air Dremel for the very heavy stuff, but for this class of Dremel I would suggest it over any other Dremel out there. If you are looking for a hanging Dremel make sure you look at Foredom with the Fordham footpedal as they are top in class. Pick out the amperage to get the class Dremel that you need. Poor design of electronic speed control snap action button switch
Snap action button switch is poor quality. Had to replace it after a month of use. Replaced OEM the switch with an Omron micro switch. The OEM switch doesn't appear to have contacts rated for the nominal 1.6 amp load. The Omron replacement, as with most other similar snap action micro switches are rated for 3 amps max load. perfect if just replacing the motor and not have to buy the expensive kits .
this is better and stronger than my old xpr which let out majic smoke and fire when it failed ( winding shorted after 10 years of hard use ) ) , I just wanted a replacement motor not a complete kit and this was exactly what I needed , this unit has more power and better cooling than the older ones also it fit my hand better and was smoother ( less vibration) than the old one , the controls seem smoother on the speeds also .Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I have used my old dremel for some 30 years and it was great but I must say that the speed control on the 4000 is so much smoother and flexible and being separate from the on-off switch makes it possible to keep your favorite setting. Questioned a refurb

Dremel 4000 a good value
I purchased a new Dremel 4000 rotary tool to replace an aging and obsolete model Dremel. The new tool works very well in wood and that is my primary need.
