Cat Calming Pheromone--Effective or a Placebo?
It is hard to tell whether this product actually works, but our two cats do seem more calm and less likely to scratch household items when we are using it. Our neighbor who has four cats concurs. But it could be a placebo effect (on us--not the cats, they can't read). We've not seen any difference between the "classic" and "multi-cat" versions, so we buy which ever is the least expensive at the time. Peace at Last!
There are seven cats in the house, four belonging to my daughter and three mine. Not to mention the fosters. Sometimes tensions flare and having the Feliway seems to help settle them down. Not completely preventing the marking but reduced nonetheless. I think once all visitors are gone, things will be better, but will keep using the product. Yes, It Works
This works! How do I know? The Feliway was plugged in for a day, and we noticed our cat was not having his typical "anxiety" attacks. Coincidence? We wondered. Weeks later, he started having frequent anxiety attacks once again. We thought, ah, well, at least it worked for awhile. However, the big surprise came when I noticed that the plug-in had pulled away from the plug far enough that it was no longer plugged-in. I pushed in the device, and the attacks stopped. I am not saying that he never has them, but I am saying that the number of anxiety attacks has diminished to the point that when he has one, we are surprised.
